Greenwich Avenue is a downward sloping Main Street of one of America's wealthiest towns. The traffic is still directed by police officers and it's important to NOT cross until they allow you to do so.
Most stores are national chains except for the independent stores of Lewis Street (2 blocks from the top of Greenwich and Putnam Avenues).
It's no Worth Avenue nor Rodeo Drive (they're both prettier and more extravagant) but it's better than an indoor mall.
I used to love the Mom & Pop businesses along Greenwich Ave. Movies dinner al fresco was always a treat. Recently, I've noticed the family owned businesses have been closing & mall chain stores have come in; a big disappointment!
