This place looked like it would be worth it to true Mark Twain fans, but for the regular tourist driving through Hartford or being in Hartford for the first time, this looked like a tourist trap since it was so overpriced. The house didn't look that impressive and probably stands out in Hartford because in general, this seemed like a quiet, sleepy town without many activities. I can't remember the price, but it seemed really unreasonable for such a small little house.
Unique Suggestions: If you are a true Mark Twain fan, this is probably a neat attraction.
Fun Alternatives: Taking a look at the capital and walking around Bushnell Park in Hartford is nice.

I really enjoyed coming here as a young girl. It's an old house with incredible history- definately good for a history buff.

Fun Alternatives: Another fun place to go is nearby New Haven. Frolicking around Yale campus is allright and the New Haven Green (center of town) has free concerts during the weekends in summer. I would check out the Yale University Art Gallery too.

In the old state house, they have an unusual museum of animal oddities.
Here we have a lovely two-headed calf!
