    Foxwoods Casino

by PinkFloydActuary Written Aug 7, 2011

Foxwoods is enormous. It's not just a casino - it actually is several major casino floors under one roof (Rainmaker, Gread Cedar, Festival Slots, Grand Pequot, and MGM.) They have every game imaginable, and plenty of other things to do as well (tons of shopping and dining options.)

Gamers should definitely join the slot club. I got $10 of free play and I turned it into a $30 profit :)

I would also recommend you pay extremely close attention to where you enter the casino - I had a difficult time finding the right elevator bank to get me back to my car at the end of my visit!

Casinos are an all out assault on the senses. Foxwoods does it in grand style.

    Titanic Special Exhibit

by Gypsystravels Updated May 17, 2010

Ferni had been wanting to check out this exhibit, so during a recent road trip we made this a stop.

Ferni is a huge nautical and military buff. Anything to do with ships and military is a big draw to him. He knows almost everything there is to know about the Titanic and wanted to see what this exhibit was showing.

The exhibit cronicals the Titanic, from its construction to the indivudals involved in creating her, as well as manty valuable items recovered from the bottom of the ocean, information of many of the passengers, and the demise of the ship. There's a replica of the "Titanic" which was used at the beginning of the filming of the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as well as a huge iceberg.

The exhibit is quite small, 1 hour or so would give you plenty of time to cover most of it. After paying the fee, you are given a small speech about no photography, etc. and are also given a passport card with the name and information about a passenger on board the Titanic. At the end of the exhibit there is a rememberance wall where you get a chance to see if the passenger on your passport survived. The individual on my card, a 1st class passanger, made it out alive, unfortunately, Ferni's 3rd class passenger did not.

    We enjoyed the exhibit.

The price of the exhibit is high, but that is to be expected as most special exhibits are at a premium. We paid $20 each per adult (14 and older); $16 for seniors and $15 for children 4-13. The hours are pretty long, Sun-Thurs, 11:00 am - 8:00 pm and Friday and Saturday, 11:00 am - 10:00 pm. You can purchase your tickets on line as well.

    Fox Theatre

by Gypsystravels Updated Apr 3, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Fox Theatre is where most of the concerts and events happen here in Foxwoods. If you plan to see any of the up coming events like concerts by Seal, Beyonce and the likes, this is where you'll most likely be watching it.

I personally have not seen an event or concert here, but I hear it is a great venue because it isn't too large.

Check out their website for upcoming information of events and concerts : http://www.foxtheatreticket.com/SearchResults.asp?VenueName=fox+theat

    World Poker Tournaments

by Gypsystravels Updated Apr 3, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

World Poker Tour hits cities all over the US (and recently other coutries as well) and Foxwoods is one of the largest gaming rooms in the coutry.

There are many tournamets that are held here, some small, some satelite tournamets to win a $10,000 spot (fee to enter a tournamet) for the big one.

Many players aspire to win it big, and with a entry to the WPT, you just may never know!

    Do Some Shopping

    by cjg1 Written Mar 9, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There is plenty of shopping to be had a Foxwoods. They have a variety of stores that caters to difernt budgets from inexpensive tee shirts to Rolex Submariner Watches. We had fun strolling in and out of shops. We picked up a Yankee Candle Home Freshner that we couldn't find any where we have recently looked. I also found a silk tie that I saw in Hong Kong for sale in one of the stores. It was marked down from $80 to $30 so I had to have it.

A person could easily get carried away shopping especially if they have casino winings to spend.

    The Grand Salon and Spa

by Gypsystravels Updated Jan 7, 2008

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The spa located here at the Pequot Tower is a wonderful way to relax and spend a few hours while your loved one is playing the tables.

Indulge in one of their many spa treatments like their Swedish massage or their many wraps, polishes or facials.

I love their swedish massages but their Moroccan Roussal Mud Wrap and the Luminous C and Sea facial are the two treatments I usually have while I'm here.

Guest staying at the hotel receive a slight discount.

    Hit the gaming floor BABY!!

by Gypsystravels Updated Jan 5, 2008

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Let's face it, most people who visit Foxwoods are here to hit the world famous Casino. Whether you like the slot machines or the tables, you'll definintely have fun (remember, limit yourself).

We visit Foxwoods to hit the WPT World Poker Tour tables where Ferni plays No-Limit Texas Hold'em. The tables are open to all levels of players, but be careful, most players at these tables are quite good, and you can lose a whole lot of money on just one hand. Pace yourself and set limits!! It's what works for Ferni and he always walks away from the tables a winner!
