Foxwoods is enormous. It's not just a casino - it actually is several major casino floors under one roof (Rainmaker, Gread Cedar, Festival Slots, Grand Pequot, and MGM.) They have every game imaginable, and plenty of other things to do as well (tons of shopping and dining options.)Gamers should definitely join the slot club. I got $10 of free play...more
Ferni had been wanting to check out this exhibit, so during a recent road trip we made this a stop. Ferni is a huge nautical and military buff. Anything to do with ships and military is a big draw to him. He knows almost everything there is to know about the Titanic and wanted to see what this exhibit was showing. The exhibit cronicals the Titanic,...more
Fox Theatre is where most of the concerts and events happen here in Foxwoods. If you plan to see any of the up coming events like concerts by Seal, Beyonce and the likes, this is where you'll most likely be watching it.I personally have not seen an event or concert here, but I hear it is a great venue because it isn't too large.Check out their...more
World Poker Tour hits cities all over the US (and recently other coutries as well) and Foxwoods is one of the largest gaming rooms in the coutry. There are many tournamets that are held here, some small, some satelite tournamets to win a $10,000 spot (fee to enter a tournamet) for the big one. Many players aspire to win it big, and with a entry to...more

There is plenty of shopping to be had a Foxwoods. They have a variety of stores that caters to difernt budgets from inexpensive tee shirts to Rolex Submariner Watches. We had fun strolling in and out of shops. We picked up a Yankee Candle Home Freshner that we couldn't find any where we have recently looked. I also found a silk tie that I saw in...more

Ah, there's nothing that adds to my casino experience quite like a nice buffet. Having won a few $ at the machines, I wanted to win some more at the Festival Buffet. Lunch is $17 for an adult, and while that sounds on the high side, it is pretty reasonable for a good buffet. As you enter the dining room, the first thing you pass is the dessert...more
We've been here a couple of times during our many visits to Foxwoods, sometimes for just food, and sometimes for just a quick drink. The restaurant/bar is quite large with a nice size bar. There are a few beers on tap as well as bottled beers. The bar has large tv screens opposite of eachother and is called the Rivalry bar. The Yankees on one side,...more
After 1 am this is the only place that is open (on a weekday) for a meal and if you are hungry, like I was after watching Ferni play poker, then you have no other choice but to eat here. I hadn't eaten anything all day and thought that my favorite place, Dim Sum was open and much to my surprise they were closed. I decided to come here and grab...more
I've been here a couple of times and the food is consistently very good. Their prices, like most of the restaurants here in Foxwoods are a bit steep, but when you are in the Foxwoods there aren't other choices of places to eat other than the restaurants here in the Casino. We made reservations (highly recommended during any busy time, i.e. concert,...more
We stopped in here to have a burger as I had read some really good reviews. The restaurant is owned by Celebrity chef David Burke and he also owns Prime which is an upscale steak house here in Foxwoods. The restaurant serves cold sandwiches as well as a few other items, but we were here for the burger. We each ordered a cheese burger, I like mine...more
I was not surprised to see Ben & Jerry's at Foxwoods. I knew there would be some ice cream chain avaialble for guests. This Ben & Jerry's had sundaes, milkshakes, fruit smoothies, coffee beverages , cones and waffle bowls. They had a nice selection of flavors but Liz's favorite Cinamon Bun Ice Cream was not available.Liz and I are both big fans of...more
We've been here before, for some food, but during our latest trip we stopped in for a quick beer. The restaurant/bar is quite large with a nice size bar. There are a few beers of tap as well as bottle beers. The bar has large tv screens opposite of eachother and is called the Rivalry bar. The Yankees on one side, Redsoxs on the other. The Shrine is located in the MGM Grand here in the casino easily accessible by large corridors and walkways. The interior of the club is Asian inspired with some beautiful dark wood booths and beautiful couches with lantern hanging from the ceiling. You can also have a meal here, they have a large selection of sushi as well as starters and typical...more
We weren't hungry, but we decided to stop in the Hard Rock and sit at the very nice bar for a few drinks. The Hard Rock is massive with a cavernous feeling, very high ceilings and of course all the memorabilia hanging on the walls. The bartender was quite nice and promptly came over to us to take our drink order. Ferni had a Heinekin, I had a club...more
There are a few ways of getting to Foxwoods from the NYC metropolitan area (NJ, CT, NY) and most people will arrive by car. It's the easiest and fastest way of getting to the casino in my opinion, although some people will arrive in day tour buses. Our route to Foxwoods usually takes us about 2.5 hours driving East on I-287 to North I-95 to exit...more
Since this was a spur of the moment trip; we drove. We were already on I-95 in Connecticut so we kept heading North. We got off at exit 92 and then followed the signs to Foxwoods. It was about 8 miles from the Highway to the Casino. I-95 is always a fast drive and unless there is an accident, holiday or rush hour; the traffic isn't bad.more

Take a stroll through the retail concourse for some specialty shops along with popular name brands including Chanel, Cartier, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Timberland, Puma and Bose
Doesn't matter what you're looking for, most likely you'll find it here.
All over the casino you will see cash machines dispensing money to those wanting to loose their earnings in just a few hours. Let's face it, the odds of you actually hitting the jackpot or winning big are quite small, unless you play at the "sit & go" poker tables. The machines charge an exhuberant fee for you to withdraw money, so if you plan to...more
When we first entered Foxwoods I noticed the horrible smell of cigarette smoke. We tried to not let it bother us but at one point we were totally engulfed in the clouds of smoke from passers by. I know there wil never be such as thing as a totaly "Smke Free" casino but it's gross to leave smelling like someone's cigarette. There is only one...more
One advice I can give anyone visiting any casino, and in particular Foxwoods, is have a plan regarding your spending. Pace yourself and limit the amount of money you will be spending on the slots or the tables. It can be quite intoxicating when you are playing at the casino and find yourself winning, but with the intoxication comes the aftermath,...more
Face it Foxwoods is about gambling. They are there to take your money. Dazzle you with a nice setting, good food, good cocktails, some shopping and you are relaxed and ready to spend your cash. As anything else in life go to the casino with a set limit of how much you are willing to spend on gambling. If you plan ahead and stick to your set amount you won't go home broke.
Luggage and bags:
A small roller board for both Ferni and I or a large weekend bag which will everything we both need.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Trendy casual is how we both dress and Ferni will take along two of his dressy shirts, dress jeans and of course his boots...I will usually take a few nice tops to go along with my jeans and either a dress or a skirt in case we decide to go out to one of the clubs.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: I always carry with my own toiletries, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, spare pair contact lenses, saline solution, body lotion, perfume and cologne for Ferni, deodarant, motrine, asthma meds hair accesories, brush, curling iron.
Photo Equipment: My camera of course, extra battery and spare memory card, battery charger
Miscellaneous: Umbrella and a few different colored pashminas
A short 15 minute drive a way will take you to the other massive casino complex of the area, the Mohegan Sun. Here, there are three major casinos (Earth, Wind, and Sky.) As with Foxwoods, my first stop was to get a players card and my $10 of free play. I was getting smoked early, but made a strong comeback and walked away $34 to the positive.
I found walking around Mohegan Sun to be very impressive. There is really good air quality here, and the casinos are beautiful. Again, many shopping and dining options to choose from. I felt it was easier to navigate here, despite the massive size.
In the end, if you enjoy the casino life, Mohegan Sun is a place to visit!
As with any large indoor facility, here in Foxwoods you will find directories that indicate your location and a listing of all the restaurants, bathroom facilities, different casinos and of course the shops. If you are looking for a particular store, or casino check out the directory to familiarize yourself better.more
Foxwoods is one of the largest casinos in the world, it is massive. There is plenty to do here even if you aren't a gambler. There are some excellent dining choices, nightlife, concerts and special events that go on all year round. If you decide to spend the night, (and if you don't) you can enjoy a few treatments at the spa. There is a small but...more
Because of the size of the casino, and because there are quite a few different parking lots, the Casino has come up with a very smart way to help drivers remember their parking location. On each parking wing you will find a these large Parking Reminder with tickets indicating your parking level and name of the garage. So, make sure to take your...more
