Talk quickly and don't be afraid to goof on people

by Saba_B_Tin

Most people in CT are very proud of their intelligence, and are fast talkers (just like people from Boston and New York). Be careful boasting your knowledge, because if you make a mistake, someone's likely to pick up on it. Also, if you talk very slowly to someone from CT, he or she may take it as a personal insult (unless, of course, you have an accent that would indicate that english isn't your first language, then they'll understand). People from the working class areas of CT are known for their bratty sense of humor. If you meet and become acquainted with locals, it is almost always safe to break the ice with a goof on yourself (and others once you get to know them)

Luring the famous and wealthy

by ABL1958

Connecticut is a kind of home-away-from-home for many celebrities. Michael J. Fox and family are seen here as well as Meryl Streep, James Taylor, Whoopie Goldberg, Kevin Bacon, and others who have homes in the hills here. Generally speaking New Englanders are outwardly unimpressed by celebrity, which may be why so many popular people seek hideaways here. There are also many people from NYC and Boston that make their second homes in this corner of Connecticut, helpful to the local economy, but making things 'pricey' at the same time.

Cars or automobiles

by tompt

All americans do everything from inside their car. They have drive-ins of everything from Mc Donalds to banks. And if you are waiting for someone you wait in your car!We were not aware of that and waited for Angie sitting in the gras in the shade of a tree. Everybody who drove by was looking at us with this strange look.... There was the advantage of Angie recognizing us instandly though!

Country roads are a great way...

by dambrosi

Country roads are a great way to learn about a region. There are many solitude country roads in Connecticut, and if natural sceenry and a taste of New England is what your after, but you don't like crowds, or just want to be on your own, a nice drive down a country road is always a nice treat. Here is a pic of one of my favorite country roads in Brookfield, (Pond Brook Road) in the winter.

'Sex and beauty are inseparable, like life and consciousness. And the intelligence which goes with sex and beauty, and arises out of sex and beauty, is intuition.' - David Herbert Lawrence

In Connecticut one can visit many historical land marks including Native American sites as well as houses and buildings remaining from settlement.

You really should let someone...

by Mitchell1955

You really should let someone from CT show you around ... and help you open up its secrets. It's not such an open book like New York, but a subtler event ... that takes some time to know.

CT drivers can be...um...kind...

by MorganOrris

CT drivers can be...um...kind of ornery. When you're on the road, esp. 95, remember, your mission is self-defense.
