Bank Street Roadhouse: Check Out The Bartenders

by johngayton Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is not a place that I have been, merely glimpsed from the train, but the signage at the back of the pub/restaurant intrigued me. I don't know if it will be legible on the photo here but on the RHS the sign says: "EAT HERE; FEEL GOOD" and on the LHS (partially obscured): "WARM BEER, LOUSY FOOD & THE BLUES".

Googling for details I found several reviews of the place, both good and bad, but the one thing they had in common was the consesus regarding the attractiveness of the barstaff.

    Check out the website!

Favorite Dish: As I said I haven't eaten here but the menu looks as if it might be worth a try - very American with a few Mexican bits and "Lobster on a Roll" seems to be an upscale hot dog!!

New China: Lots of Chinese food in New London

Best take out Chinese food in Southeastern Connecticut. Their specialty is roast pork with vegetables; its always juicy , tender , succulent. Shrimp and broccolli is very good, and all their chicken dishes are excellent too. The rice here is never stale and dry, and the vegetables are cooked al dente. They make a very mean Moo Shu pork.

Favorite Dish: Every dish is good. Choose anything, you wont be disappointed.

    Illiano's: best Pizza in Town

Great specialty pizzas. Try the buffalo chicken pizza, or the Chicken Florentine if you want to have a tasty meal and arent too concerned about angioplasty, or have a veggie slice and crunch on the broccoli and peppers. I find the crust on Illiano's pies to be a bit undercooked, but some prefer a doughy soft crust. There are 2 locations on either side of town.

Favorite Dish: I love the Meat Lovers Calzone, with dipping sauce. It weighs a ton. Don't eat it for lunch or you'll be taking a nap.
