Stamford Things to Do

  • Stamford Museum & Nature Center

Located about 6 miles from downtown, this little museum is located on over 80 acres of beautiful woodlands. There are plenty of walking trails, activity areas for kids and farm animals. We visited the museum to see the work of artist Nathan Sawaya who creates art from Lego blocks. Check their website for current exhibits. For those willing to go on...

This year, the theme was painted and decorated carsIn 2001, almost 70 cars were painted and decorate by the artists and put on display on street corners everywhere in downtown Stamford. This is similar to the 'cows' exhibit that was done in Chicago. My friend Ella is...

  • Pricey but Good Diner Food

City Limits is an upscale version of a diner. There are two locations: this one in Stamford and one in White Plains. The diner has the typical diner fare as well as homemade desserts, milkshakes and upscale versions of clasic diner food. The diner itself is smaller than its White Plains location but that is why I like it(and it's closer to where we...

  • Old Fashioned 24hr Diner

When we were walking around Stamford looking for a place to eat dinner, this was the place I had flagged for breakfast for Sunday morning. Hardy breakfast was served promptly by a waitress that called me 'Hon'. This place could be a movie set. No overhead means prices are pretty reasonable.

  • The SBC

The menu here was slightly large than your average brew pub. What disturbs me is this is the first brew pub that I have visited that seems to cater to kids. Mind you it is not the issue of underage drinking but the difficulty of enjoying a meal and a brew with the sound of little kids screaming and mothers asking their charges if they have to go to...

We chose this restaurant for lunch because of the banner indicating a lunch special for $7.50 per person. The special was your choice of several appetizer or entree items with soup or salad. I loved this place! The salads are HUGE~ bring your appetite! Parking is a problem, especially in winter...it is a popular spot on top of a hill, and I found it difficult to find parking at times. Inside, friendly employees and clean place... The Pizza, of course! The flavor of the sauce and freshness of ingredients...presto! Great stuff.
