Hail in the Summer

One day while exploring Connecticut came a DRASTICALLY dangerous rain storm. I could hardly see so I actually pulled over off the road. I was off of a main freeway and the roads were winding and along the hills. It was quite dangerous.Then to make things worse (in July) it started pouring HAIL! In Houston that doesn't really happen so I thought I might included it here. It was definitely nervous to go through this on the side of the road but the fun part was it only lasted like 5-10 minutes then it was back to clear skies. LOL and I thought Houston weather was weird!

Hartford-no where you are...

While connecticut is a beautiful place , and hartford is a great city, you must becareful of where you are ,like in many cities...Gang crime and drugs are really bad in hartford,new haven, and bridgeport...In Hartford stay away from albany ave...Rte 44 North...unless you live there it's not the place to be.try not to use ATM'S where nno one is around, even the drive ups...This is not to say don't visit Hartford, just stay down town , capital area is great...Just use your head as in most cities

You live and die by I-95 when you traverse northeast or southwest along the coastline in Conn. Try to find out in advance if there are any travel advisories, and if at all possible, avoid Friday afternoon-evening and Sunday afternoon-evening since this is the get to and return from time oeriod for the hundreds of thousands of weekenders who hit the beaches and tourist areas along the coast.

If you are traveling to Foxwoods on Route 164 from 395 in the winter time be extreamly cautous of ice - there are many stream that go under the road. Thus these parts of the road ice up first and you may find yourself in the ditch. We (the Preston City FD) respond to many calls on that road every winter.

be careful driving...err, speeding! the CT state troopers are very sneaky and the speeding fines are huge.
