As a lifelong resident of Waterbury, I must take exception to the two previous tips. Like any metropolitan area, there are areas of Waterbury that one should take caution when travelling through. However, the incidence of violent crime in the city is lower than in any other CT city. Waterbury is a city of strong neighborhoods and beautiful parks and architecture. The downtown area is home to several Cass Gilbert structures and parks designed by the world-renowned Frederick Law Olsted. Once known as the Brass Center of the world, Waterbury is showing her age. But revitalization efforts are under way to bring the city back to its proud heritage. I challenge anyone to provide valid proof that Waterbury is anywhere near as dangerous as Hartford or New Haven. The statistics just don't support the accusation.

Waterbury is a very poor city. It is mostly latino hispanic, and at first veiw seems very dangerous. Dangerous areas of the city include south end, behind brass mill center. These areas may seem dangerous to some people but it is recommeded you lock you doors and keep your windows up and do not stop. Waterbury is smaller then New Haven, Hartford and Bridgeport. Although waterbury is dangerous its Gangs, Murders and Crime do not compare with New Haven, Hartford or Bridgeport
