Favorite thing: Stop by the Service Centre on the Delaware Turnpike! Actually, you probably don't have too much of a choice. It's the only place to stop on the turnnpike without having to pay, so everybody stops real to enjoy some tax-free shopping. Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot of great things on sale here, so you'll just have to make do with a hot dog and maybe a postcard.
Go to Newark and check out the Univ. of Delaware, and eat and drink on Main Street. Try to get to a football game, too.
Fondest memory: I live about 10 minutes from Newark, so I frequently visit the town. It doesn't have much to offer, just a little local character. Actually, my fondest memories of Delaware are going to the beaches in the southern part of the state. They aren't very big and don't attract that many tourists, but hey, it's a beach and I haven't seen any needles floating in the water yet.
Favorite thing: Delaware is known for the following beaches-- Rehoboth Beach (pictured,) Dewey Beach, and Delaware Beach.
