This is the main street in downtown Lewes, and it's straight out of a travel brochure or postcard. Set just a block away from the Lewes Canal, folks park and spend the day on foot exploring the quaint little shops and restaurants.
Stop for an ice cream and continue around the block to walk along the canal waterfront. There is never a shortage of boats, fishermen, and stories....and if you time it right, you just might see the pirate ship!
There are several historical buildings downtown, including the Cannon Ball House and the Zwaanendael Museum. For a complete list with lots of background, check out www.lewes.com.

This trail runs from just outside Lewes to Rehoboth Beach behind all the congestion on Route 1. There are signs posted beginning at the bridge over the canal.

We passed a great cemetary on 3rd street whose tombstones were just begging to be photographed.
Or was it whomever was beneath them that begged? Hmmmm.........

Beautiful Victorian houses, even more beautiful beaches.
The fishing and surfing in Cape May is amazing. This is my favorite Striper location.
