Delaware is divided into only three counties: New Castle, Kent and Sussex. This make Delaware the state with the fewest counties even though it is not the smallest state.The county divisions are based on the structure of the court system in Delaware.New Castle is the northern third of the state and is the more populace of the counties. I love the local custom of low taxes. Coming from New York to Delaware is like it used to be going from New York to Canada..... your money goes a long long ways. Residents not only pay lower taxes on purchases, they get a break on their income taxes too.If the traffic and congestion on the highways weren't such a negative factor, I would consider moving to Delaware after retirement.
