The Green Room at The Hotel Dupont: My number one pick for Delaware Cuisine

by tpangelinan Written Mar 4, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Valet Parking, Men...Jacket required at all times, Ladies, no jeans or sneakers. Reservations are a must, book early as they sell out of space quick. The service, atmosphere and dining are second to none in the state of Delaware. Come break bread with the who's who in Wilmington. They have all kinds of packages, check out their web page.

Favorite Dish: My favorite meals here are Sunday Brunch, $29.00 per person and Valentines Package, around $150.00 per couple. Chocolate Fondue is to die for!!!

Union City Grille: Soft, quiet and romantic

by tpangelinan Written Mar 4, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Hours:
    11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 5-11 p.m. Monday through Friday, 5 p.m.-11 p.m. Saturday.
Casual City Dining Featuring Contemporary Cuisine With An Italian Flair
I find the food is American. The chef is new, rumor has it the Chef from Columbus Inn is now the Union Chef, and it tastes like it. Fine dining, easy, free parking and great service and atmosphere make this a special occasion restaurant! Take a date there, the romance factor is high with the lighted glass vases, and comfy booths. The mashed potatoes tasted like home made, and the lighting was soft and warm. They do not have a web site...why?

The Three Little Bakers: A Delaware Tradition

by tpangelinan Written Mar 4, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Dinner and a show for about $45.00 per person. All you can eat buffet of wonderful culinary delights. This is by far, one of the most favored special occasion spots in Delaware. They come by the bus load from three or four states to eat here and have a broadway show. The history of the place is interesting, and a part of the show. The service and the food are 4 star! Come and enjoy the golf course in the summer!

Favorite Dish: Take home a loaf of bread shaped like a turtle. This bread is fun and good! My two favorite shows here were Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Little Shop of Horrors! Both were wonderful! The 50's Grease Bands play here and are great.

Cold Stone Creamery: Couldn't make it better myself

by tpangelinan Written Mar 4, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

You pick a base flavor and can add any toppings you want, 5 kinds of berries, what ever. The crew sings when they get a tip and that is really neat for the kiddies, (big kids too)! This is by far the best icecream on the planet.

Favorite Dish: The triple berry is so good, take some home! Try an icecream cake for your next party!

Pure Bread: Wonderful Soup and Sandwich Spot!

by tpangelinan Updated Mar 4, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Good enough to open two restaurants in two up scale parts of Delaware, Pike Creek and Greenville. Open at 6:30 am. With an onsite bakery, bread and rolls can't get any fresher. Home made soups made this place a stand out lunch spot. This is truely where Delaware Locals eat. They have winter and summer soup schedules. Here is a typical list of weekly soups: Monday-Lobster Bisque, Tuesday-Crab Bisque, Wed-Chicken and Dumplings, Thursday-Cream of Asparagus, Friday-Texas Chili, Saturday-Itallian Wedding, Sunday- Chicken and Chorizo Chili. You could eat here everyday and not get bored or broke. They have great Grilled Paninis. Try a Great Dane-Honey Baked Ham, Brie, tomatoe, honey mustard on herb foccacia bread for $6.95. Hound Dog-Chunky peanut butter, bananas, cinnamon, honey on grilled cracked wheat, $5.75.

Favorite Dish: Sandwiches are named after dogs, like the Chesapeake, Old Bay Shrimp salad, littuce, tomatio, red onion on a fresh baked crossant...$7.25. Or how about a Saint Bernard, roast beef, turkey, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomatoe, red onion honey mustard on sourdough bread. You might like a chihuahu, grilled chicken, pepper jack, avacado, lettuce, tomatoe onion, chipotle mayo on cheddar bread, $7.50. All sandwiches come with chips and a pickle. Buy a loaf ot Cheddar Cheese Bread for $3.25 to take home and snack on!

JOE'S CRAB SHACK: Joe, where's the Crabs???

by tpangelinan Updated Mar 4, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The server's don't dance anymore, and they have a surprising lack of crabs on the menue at Joes "Crab Shack". I hear Delawarians often remark about this irony. Here in Delaware if you scream crabs, you better come with a bushel. (That's about 4 dozen). Ummmmm. The more Old Bay Seasioning, the better!

Favorite Dish: Only time to go is $11.99 for 33 Shrimp deal.

    Coconut Shrimp was AWESOME!!!
Mike is anti seafood. He feels better about killing little chickens for sup, than some cute fuzzy little shrimp, so he opted for the chicken.
It was the best he had in a long time (and this guy keeps Perdue in business) so expert, you better believe it.

  • Harrys Savoy Bar and Grill: Best Place To Eat

    by Lil_Nick Updated Feb 11, 2004

The food at Harrys Savoy Bar and Grill is the best, if i ever go back to Delaware I would go back to this place. The food is great and the surroundings are awesome. The pictures on the wall and even how they have the place set up. It's a great place to go and eat.

Favorite Dish: My starter meal was the Seared Prime Ostrich Filet with Zinfandel Cream Reduction
Served with a Foie Gras butter crostini
My favorite dish is the Roasted Quail Wrapped in Applewood Smoked Bacon
with wilted endives, cranberries and crisp sweet potatoes. The food was great, I wish that I could make it because I loved it.

Arners Resturant: Best meal passing through, or anytime!

by tpangelinan Updated Mar 8, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Arners is a local hang out, best crab cakes around (broiled). Best prices in New Castle County. Salad bar is fresh and mostly home made items.
I work 5 minutes from here, so Mike and I eat here 1-3 times a week!
    Service is A+
    Cleanliness is A+
Food is always Good, and FAST!
Check does not break the bank!
You will see regulars there every day, that's good! Say hi to Manager Rob Morgan, tell him VT sent you! Rob say's all Arners ARE GREAT! Who knew? There are more?

Favorite Dish: Waffle with fresh strawberries, night or day.
Check out the "EARLY BIRD SPECIAL" because, there are:
Great prices, no wait, (sometimes Dinner is so busy, you may hit a line).
Lunch here is wonderful. I am a soup and salad bar kind of girl, Mike is a Monteray Chicken, smothered with cheese, mushrooms, onions, and bacon, (he gets this twice a month).

    AnnMarie's Seafood & Italian Restaurant
On the major highway through the Delaware seashore, this old brick farmhouse from the 1920's is converted into a fantastic dining experience! Best place at the beach!

Favorite Dish: WONDERFUL - Yellowfin Tuna steaks with a mango/raspberry sauce; Flounder stuffed with fresh crab

Great down to earth pub though the food is decidedly upscale compared to the surroundings. Burgers are pricey unless you hit the half price day which is Thursday.

Favorite Dish: Very ecclectic menu but the burgers are ground sirloin and the buns are homemade.

by LadybugQ Written Sep 7, 2002

My favorite restaurant in Dover is the Iron Gate.
I suggest making reservations, esp Friday or Saturday. The cater to a local crowd. The place isn't much to look at on the outside, but is nice inside.

Favorite Dish: They have an extensive menu. I try something different everytime, usually something with crab. My husbands always orders, Steak au Poivre.

A small, and most of the time very crowded restaurant usually filled with college students. There is a nice porch that overlooks the crowded Main Street where many people usually drink there faces off.
