Pure Bread: Wonderful Soup and Sandwich Spot!

by tpangelinan Updated Mar 4, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Good enough to open two restaurants in two up scale parts of Delaware, Pike Creek and Greenville. Open at 6:30 am. With an onsite bakery, bread and rolls can't get any fresher. Home made soups made this place a stand out lunch spot. This is truely where Delaware Locals eat. They have winter and summer soup schedules. Here is a typical list of weekly soups: Monday-Lobster Bisque, Tuesday-Crab Bisque, Wed-Chicken and Dumplings, Thursday-Cream of Asparagus, Friday-Texas Chili, Saturday-Itallian Wedding, Sunday- Chicken and Chorizo Chili. You could eat here everyday and not get bored or broke. They have great Grilled Paninis. Try a Great Dane-Honey Baked Ham, Brie, tomatoe, honey mustard on herb foccacia bread for $6.95. Hound Dog-Chunky peanut butter, bananas, cinnamon, honey on grilled cracked wheat, $5.75.

Favorite Dish: Sandwiches are named after dogs, like the Chesapeake, Old Bay Shrimp salad, littuce, tomatio, red onion on a fresh baked crossant...$7.25. Or how about a Saint Bernard, roast beef, turkey, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomatoe, red onion honey mustard on sourdough bread. You might like a chihuahu, grilled chicken, pepper jack, avacado, lettuce, tomatoe onion, chipotle mayo on cheddar bread, $7.50. All sandwiches come with chips and a pickle. Buy a loaf ot Cheddar Cheese Bread for $3.25 to take home and snack on!

Dreamers Cafe: Taste home made, yet new and different

by tpangelinan Updated Apr 4, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Area boutique cafe. Unusual items, old favorites made new again. Hot Wings are great. They have a great Hot Sauce collection on the walls. Tables are plain, no tableclothes here. Best to take out and eat at home. Hot Wings ar as follows: Lullaby, Sweet Dreams, Nightmares, Devils Revenge, Spontaneous Combustion, Beyond Smoked Bones, Bu8rnt Ashes, and my favorite....You must be CRAZY! Great Salads like, Turkey Bourbon, Jamaican Beef Jerk and Shrimp Caesar Salad. Soup and Half a Salad are a steal at $6.00. Lots of low carb choices. Over 20 Gourmet Sandwiches for 5.95, comes with bagel chips and a pickel too! Cheap as fast food, tastes like mom made it. Fast, clean, cheap and easy. You will love this place. 10 Wings are $4.50. Cheese Fries are 2.75. Quart of soup is $6.00.

Favorite Dish: Cream of Crab soup is so wonderful. Soups change everyday, and are usually very apealing. Try the Monkey Flip or the Road Runner Sandwich. The Dreamer, chicken salad with walnuts, grapes and sun dried tomatoes is my favorite. The Nitro Extreme, chicken breast with hot sauce, on kaiser roll with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, onion and tomatoe, blackened fries and cole slaw. Blue cheese on the side...$6.75. With sandwiches like Grim Reaper and Blazing Hell Fire, just reading the menue is fun! They have stuffed bread boules with names like Thunder Bolt, cheddar cheese, chili onions and tomatoes, Devils Rage, Cattlemens Cry, The Jerk and Utopia, my favorite, Shrimp, Crabmeat and bacon with cheddar.

The Three Little Bakers: A Delaware Tradition

by tpangelinan Written Mar 4, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Dinner and a show for about $45.00 per person. All you can eat buffet of wonderful culinary delights. This is by far, one of the most favored special occasion spots in Delaware. They come by the bus load from three or four states to eat here and have a broadway show. The history of the place is interesting, and a part of the show. The service and the food are 4 star! Come and enjoy the golf course in the summer!

Favorite Dish: Take home a loaf of bread shaped like a turtle. This bread is fun and good! My two favorite shows here were Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Little Shop of Horrors! Both were wonderful! The 50's Grease Bands play here and are great.

Favorite Dish: The triple berry is so good, take some home! Try an icecream cake for your next party!

Bangkok House: Best Thai Food in North Delaware

by tpangelinan Updated Mar 4, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

So great! This is a very authentic Thai Restaurant. The people who own it close on a whim and go toThailand when ever they feel the urge. Even people from Thailand eat here because it reminds them of home.

Favorite Dish: Peanut Sauce and Chicken Panang are works of culinary art. Yum-Sum like it hot! I believe this is a family owned operation, two women doing everything so go with time and patience on you side. The chicken curry is very nice too. Get three or four things and share. The folks who run this place have an Thai Lunch buffet at the Riverfront Market during the week also. Three dishes for $5.95. Very reasonable at lunch, dinner is a little pricy, but worth the expense.

Union City Grille: Soft, quiet and romantic

by tpangelinan Written Mar 4, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Hours:
    11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 5-11 p.m. Monday through Friday, 5 p.m.-11 p.m. Saturday.
Casual City Dining Featuring Contemporary Cuisine With An Italian Flair
I find the food is American. The chef is new, rumor has it the Chef from Columbus Inn is now the Union Chef, and it tastes like it. Fine dining, easy, free parking and great service and atmosphere make this a special occasion restaurant! Take a date there, the romance factor is high with the lighted glass vases, and comfy booths. The mashed potatoes tasted like home made, and the lighting was soft and warm. They do not have a web site...why?

Walters Steak House: Food is pretty good, expensive, and slow service

by tpangelinan Updated Mar 4, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The food is pricy. We have eaten here six or seven times. Ever since our favorite waiter Rob left, it's just not the same. The filet with the white lumb crab meat on top is good, but at $36.00, it should be good. Make a reservation if you go, and have an appletini, apple pucker and grey goose, but have it at the bar. Set aside lots and lots of time to have dinner, as it is super slow, and can take three or four hours to get your complete dinner here from appetizers to dessert. The Constantinou family is famous for beef here in Wilmington, so the food is excellent. Not for the faint of wallet.

Favorite Dish: ANNAPOLIS HOT CRAB DIP
fresh crab meat and cream sauce served with water crackers

With slogans like..."Our beer snobs can beat up your wine snobs" you know right away this is a real brewery. Good food, get a booth. Prepare to wait, as is a Wilmington Happy Hour Hot Spot. I find the food interesting, fresh and reasonably priced.

Favorite Dish: Seafood Bisque...very good, $6.50 a bowl and very filling. Here's something different, a soup sampler-Chicken Gumbo, Roasted Carrot and Seafood Bisque.
Shrimp Tempura, lo mein noodle salad, toasted sesame ginger sauce, and wasabi mayo for $10.95.

Del Rose Cafe: For drinks only! I hear the Bands are good.

by tpangelinan Written Mar 5, 2006

Del Rose Cafe, 1707 Delaware Ave.
    656-3015
Trolley Square’s award winning music venue and fine dining.
Been here a long time, personally I think you have to be pretty drunk to like the food here. Drinks were good though! Some folks love it. Sauce was sour, I never like that. Anti pasta was huge, get it to share. Like cole slaw, it's all chopped up, not my bag at all, Aunt Pat didn't even eat half of it. Crab Spagetti was fishy. Ravioli was OK, Olive Garden is better. Sorry Del Rose, I hear you have great bands, but I would skip it for a meal.
