Take the Dogs!
by Rhondaj
CAROUSEL PARKFINALLY! A park where your dogs can run off the leash. Not all of this park is leash free. Part of the park is an equestrian center. There are also walking paths. The doggy park is located behind the equestrian area, on the other side of the lake. The lake is great fun for the pups too. I was worried that our pups would be the most ill-mannered dogs there, but they behaved themselves pretty well.... (and didn't have to scoop any poop--always a plus on a doggy outing!)
Dover Downs
by Jacquelynn
Over 140,000 people surround the Dover International Speedway to watch 43 NASCAR drivers do 300+ laps around "The Monster Mile". Seats are plainly marked, though may be more difficult to find as the stands fill up. I had the opportunity to work as event staff, and they are more than happy to help. Look for people in florescent vests.Drivers are demi-gods. Fans have hats, t-shirts, and decals on their vehicles proclaiming their favorite driver/s.Everyone wears ear protection and seemingly makes a whole day of the race; eating, drinking, and having fun. Prepare for some real traffic before and after.
Bring ear plugs and a cooler full of snacks and drinks. Concessions are pricy.
Wide, horse-friendly trails
by Rhondaj
Although Brandywine State Park has horse trails too, Woodlawn Trails seemed much more popular with riders. We encountered several groups of riders on our walk. The paths are plenty wide enough to share. But if you're a hiker, watch your step!
a horse of course!
