Safety Tips in Delaware

It is like a horror movie. The flies, oh the flies...your kids will scream, and you will wish you went elsewhere. Between the gnatts biting on the beach and the million gazillion flies in the shower, skip it. This beach is for fishermen and the birds!

If you're driving on I-95 going through Delaware make sure you have cash to pay the tolls. It was $5 here but the money gets more costly the farther North towards New York. I just can't believe why it costs so much to drive on an INTERSTATE that the government pays for.

If you aren't staying the night in Rehobeth and you came by ferry, make sure you know when the last ferry leaves for New Jersey. It's about a five hour drive via Philadelphia.

Do not wear your sister's clothes, your brother might post it on the Internet some forty years later.

Don't fall asleep in your car on the Delaware Turnpike. If you do, some demented Spring-Breaking college students might take pictures of you. Speaking as one of the aforementioned students, I can only hope that this guy meant to look this silly. If you're reading this and recognize either (a) yourself or (b) your car, please let me know. It'll really liven the page up a bit.

There doesn't seem to be any good way to navigate from Wilmington to Newcastle. Although some guidebooks recommend Route 9, this will take you through a depressingly poor area - while passing through, we saw one police shakedown and a streetbrawl...not bad for some 'local flavor', I guess!
