Cranes Roost Park is located in Uptown Altamonte part of Altamonte Springs and covers an area of 45 acres. The central part of the park is Lake North with a 1 mile surrounding smooth path connected by 2 foot bridges, which is suitable for walkers, joggers & cyclist. Popular during the day the park also has events during the evenings with a water fountain show each evening at 7, 8 & 9pm. There is an Amphitheatre where free concerts are held every Friday between 7 & 9pm. They also hold an outside evening cinema so it is worth checking their website for the different events that are held. Cranes Roost Park is within walking distance to the Altamonte Mall and visit to one can be combined with the other. There is plenty of car parking within the vicinity. The park is open from 7am to 11pm Sunday to Thursday and 7am to 12am Friday & Saturday.

Lake Locus Park is a real hidden gem covering 150acres. Just off SR414 it is hidden from the outside world by trees and surrounded by houses. There is a large car park, toilets, play area, picnic area, barbeque grills, a 1 mile boardwalk and an area to fish. The car park is reached via a long driveway. When we went during the week and in January we initially had the place to ourselves but were joined by a couple of cars later on, though I would imagine that it becomes very busy on summer weekends.

The best part is the walk along the mainly boardwalk path towards Lake Locus. When you reach Lake Locus you can spend time trying to spot animals. Further on there is a building called 'Window on the Lake' from which you can watch the wildlife via the large picture windows. You can then follow the boardwalk and trail back to the car park.

The park is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm Thursday to Sunday. The park is closed Monday to Wednesday.
