Favorite thing: My BIL described this process to us, and Bob's reaction was that I should never ever sign him up for something like this. But my BIL seemed to really like it.

biking is always a fun activity

Favorite thing: Ok. I've been accused of being a little bit grumpy about my stay at the Plantation on AMelia Island. So I will give credit where credit is due. They do have a great system of bike/pedestrian paths. There are seven miles of trails that meander through the sometimes jungle-like property. Bicycles are available for rent at about $25 per day.

Highrises on the beach

empty beach (but this is at 7:00 a.m.)

Favorite thing: I'm not really a fan of hanging out on the beach. A walk along the shore can be nice a couple times a year, but nothing is as boring to me as plopping down in a beach chair and letting the sun do a number on your skin all day long. Give me forests, marshes and jungles anytime.

Then there is the matter of all the people you must share the beach with and these ghastly highrises. I'm sorry, but a penthouse room overlooking a beach and the ocean just does not do it for me. But I guess I'm in the minority with this opinion because obviously people come from all over the nation and even the world to hang out at these beaches. And they pay a stiff tariff in order to have that oceanside perch. Well, they are welcome to it.
