The Amelia Island Plantation promotes a wildlife and nature center on premises. Quite an exaggeration. There is a small deck overlooking a pond (the pond doubles as a water hazard on the golf course) and there is a small hut that has minimal information on wildlife that can be spotted on the grounds. But in no way, shape or form can the deck and adjoining hut be called a nature center--not when golf carts speed down the fairways only twenty yards away and not when the fancy shops and gallerias lie twenty yards in the opposite direction. An oak tree and a puddle do not a nature center make--at least not in my book.
