    Flying in for a visit

by TRimer Updated Sep 25, 2002

The Palm Beach International Airport (407-471-7420) and the Fort Lauderdale International Airport are two reasonable choices for visitors coming to Boca Raton. PBI Airport, approximately 20 minutes north of Boca, is serviced by a number of major domestic carriers, including American Airlines (800-433-7300), Continental Airlines (800-525-0280), Delta Airlines (800-221-1212), Northwest Airlines (800-225-2525), TWA (800-221-2000), and United (800-241-6522). It is also serviced by Jet Blue and Spirit. All major carriers fly into Fort Lauderdale International Airport, which is approximately 20 minutes south of Boca.

The route I took was to fly into Miami and drive north up the Interstate. If you avoid the rush hour, it'll take maybe 45 minutes. If the traffic's bad, you could be looking at 2 hours.
You have to have a car. It's as simple as that. Given the number of country clubs, the whole place is pretty spread out, and walking anywhere simply isn't feasible. So far as I can remember, public transport is essentially non-existent.
