Brandon Transportation

  • Get a car / turning light

You can get around only by car. From the European point of view driving in Brandon (and in Tampa in general) is not bad at all . Streets have a very fluent traffic and, OF COURSE, everywhere is parking space. US people behave not as crazy as most europeans do on the wheel, they tend to change lines very little compared with us for example, BUT, when...

  • Bottom...

Bottom line....................drive a fast moving, highly maneuverable car in Brandon. Remember that most people who live in the Brandon area aren't from Florida. They are from the NorthEastern and Midwestern U.S. They have been known to drive like maniacs. And with the heavy traffic, you'll need to drive like one at times to get where you are...

Brandon Tourist Traps

Watch out for Celebration Station just off of the I-75 exit for S.R. 60! It IS meant for kids and families. It has a large game room, miniature golf, small kiddie rides, go-karting, bumber boating, and more. The problem is that it can be VERY expensive. Be prepared to pay a bundle to entertain your kids!

Brandon What to Pack

  • Packing List

Two essential things you must have in Brandon..............an umbrella and sunscreen. While this sounds somewhat illogical, this is how the weather works in Brandon. When the sun is out, it is scorching. UV indexes are typically 10 to 11 or higher! But, because of the seabreeze fronts, which are typical during the rainy summer months, you can have...

Brandon Favorites

  • Yeech, Brandon.

Brandon is a suburb of Tampa and is one of the worst examples of unrestrained sprawl I've ever seen. Some of the highlights are horrific traffic on terribly ugly roads, an overcrowded and overpriced 'town center' mall with a parking lot bigger than Rhode Island, huge 'big box' stores so poorly placed that they seem randomly dropped from the sky,...

Take a map with you. Many people think Brandon is limited to State Road 60 (Brandon Blvd.). This is far from the truth. You need to take a map with you to locate things within Brandon. A good phone book also helps. When we first moved to Brandon, we couldn't believe how low the Crime Rate was. We are from the Midwest, and the crime rates up there...
