Captiva Local Customs

This time of year, there are many turtle egg nests near the shoreline. Just like in my home country, Iran, turtle eggs are plentiful and make an excellent snack while visiting the beach. In Captiva, it is the custom of the locals to mark the turtle nests with signs to make it easier to gather these wonderful delicacies. Be sure to bring a large bowl as they are so numerous you will want to take some home to snack on later.

Beware, Motorcycle patrols in Captiva target young riders. Young riders, especially those under 3'6'' tall are especially vulnerable to this heinous practice.
