Tony's Seafood Restaurant: Delicious Seafood in this Small Eatery

by charlenemixa Written Nov 3, 2014

My husband has been wanting to go to Cedar Key again after seeing an article on the recent Seafood Festival. Driving up from the Clearwater area on a Sunday afternoon, we found a sleepy quiet town. After strolling through town, the park, and the restaurants around the pier, we were seeking a nicer place. Tony's made our visit to Cedar Key worth it. Sharing the bowl of the Award Winning Claim chowder warmed us up and was superb! Sharing the seafood platter was the best choice! It had fried shrimp, steamed shrimp, claims, fried oysters, a great fried fish filet, and crab. Their batter is very light so this is not heavy greasy fried fish. With a side salad and potato salad we were full. The meal was so good, the waitress was fun and attentive. This small restaurant in downtown Cedar Key is a must for a good meal

Favorite Dish: Their award winning Clam Chowder

  • Tony's: Supposedly famous for clam chowder

by Jolietvilletraveler Updated Mar 2, 2011

Very small. Servers aren't real attentive to customers coming in if they are busy, so you may have to wait, blocking the door, until you can be seated.

Favorite Dish: Seafood combo was o.k. We thought the price was $3 less until we got the bill. Server wasn't real knowledgeable about the menu. We weren't happy. Didn't go back.

  • Frogs Landing: Loud, live music at times

by Hoosierustraveler Written Mar 25, 2006

Another one on the second floor with a view of the water from one side of the restaurant. Wait staff needs a lesson in manners. We were told to "sit anywhere" and when picked a table for 4 as far away from the loud music as we could get, waitress came over and informed us they usually "save these larger tables for larger parties." When we asked her where we SHOULD sit, she mumbled and said she didn't know! We left.

by Hoosierustraveler Written Mar 25, 2006

Another one on the 2nd floor with a great view of the water. Enclosed porch puts you even closer if you can get a table there.

Favorite Dish: C rab bisque, made with real, fresh crab & cream. So thick you could eat with a fork! Also fried small scallops were extemely well done with a very light batter. Special of the day was an oyster poboy that looked yummy too. Tooo many restaurants, too few meals!!!!!

  • Ann's Other Place: Breakfast place

by Hoosierustraveler Written Mar 25, 2006

Another one on the second floor with a great view of the water. Outside dining is available if the weather cooperates. Small, only about 10 tables inside.

Favorite Dish: Only did breakfast, but that was good. From what we observed, locals were getting the french toast and it looked good. Stay away from the biscuits! Mine was about 2" square, 1/2" high, very brown & hard & strange. If you don't think of it as a biscuit, guess it was edible.

  • Seabreeze: Great clams

by Hoosierustraveler Written Mar 25, 2006

Great atmosphere...2nd floor with great view of water/boats, etc. Great clams (fried strips, chowder and roasted). When very, very busy, service can be slow, but just relax & enjoy the view!

Favorite Dish: Fried clam strips....fresh, local clams with just the bare minimum of breading & done just perfectly. Basket brought to table with lots of containers of tartar, cocktail sauces & sour cream & butter. Anywhere on the Key, must try the local clams! If roasted is your thing, they are great also. Baked potato is iffy depending on how busy they are. Stuffed flounder is also very, very good as are the fried (local) oysters. Have not had a bad meal there/

We visited Cedar Keys on March 2/14.....deceided to go to Seabreeze for lunch.....It was not that busy when we arrived.....After waitress took our order we waited 11/2 hours ,with still nothing, the couple at the table next to us also did not get what they ordered for they were out of an ingredient that went into a particular salad they had ordered,,,and a table across had ordered an all you can eat and was told it would be 35 min. before they could give him another plate of whatever he ordered....It was terrible service and a very disappointing day to say the least.....If you want for good food and service go to a little café called Annie's .....half the price ,one quatre of the wait with excellent service.....Marilyn M
