Dining Room by HotelMan The Columbia on Sand Key is outstanding. The menu consists of a mix of Spanish & Cuban fares, ranging from traditional tapas to wonderfully prepared steaks and paellas. The management & staff take special care to ensure an "out of this world" dining experience. The presentation & quality of food served here is top-notch!
Filet Chacho, of course! It's a perfectly prepared filet, flambeed tableside with bourbon. Beautiful presentation, especially late in the evening, when the lights are dim. Leave a Comment

The Frenchy's establishments on Clearwater Beach are well known for their food. Especially their grouper sandwiches. They've won the hearts and tastebuds of locals and tourists alike. Additionally, they usually win or place second in the annual "Best of the Bay" competitions. Frenchy's Saltwater Cafe isn't directly on the beach, but it's no more them two or three blocks from it, an easy walking distance.
When we make a trip to Florida, my husband usually insists on coming here for lunch one day. We inevitably order the conch fritters to start. Just try finding conch in Colorado! Anyway, they make fantastic fritters with a nice sauce to go with them. Chris always orders the classic grouper sandwich and slaw. I usually do too, but the last time we were there it was stone crab season, so I ordered a pound of those instead. They're a lot of work, but so deliciously worth it ($16.99/lb). Frenchy's also has $2.00 beer specials to take advantage of. Service is usually adequate, but nothing to get overly excited about. I tip 15-20%. Leave a Comment Theme: SeafoodPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: When crossing the bridge to the beach, turn right just before entering the traffic circle and drive a couple of blocks. That'll bring you to their back entrance and you can usually find parking. If not, you might have to circle the block around front.

** As of September 2008, this restaurant participates in Rewards Network ** Thanks to my good friends at Rewardsnetwork.com , Mugs 'N Jugs won my business for the evening to watch some sports while eating alone on a business trip. I like to go to places where I feel I am not inconveniencing anyone when I sit in a table for hours on end watching sports and enjoying less than healthy portions of chicken wings or what ever pub fare is available. When you enter into this location, you know you are in a sports bar, with kitschy beer calendars and special advertisements splitting time on the wall with other sports paraphernalia. Since Clearwater is closely located to Tampa Bay, the requisite Buccaneers and (Devil) Rays posters and neon signs are in full force. I choose to sit in the back of the restaurant, as they can accommodate me with power there. At 5pm on a Wednesday, the place is already pumping with business. I was pleasantly surprised with the clientele. Quite a few families were in there, despite the name Mugs 'N Chugs which hearkens back a little to the title of a less than family friendly establishment. Once seated, there are plenty of television screens, all on different sporting events. One channel is dedicated to curling, others to ESPN and ESPN news. Rodeo is even playing on one set. They have even put on one of the fiercest sporting events out there these days, the Presidential election, after all this is a swing state. The menu recommends the "giant wings", of which I can not resist. I choose to get 5 with Hot BBQ, and 5 with Garlic Hot Sauce. The garlic wings tasted a little too vinegary to me, but the Hot BBQ was delicious, and warranted me to order another 5 and some fries. They live up to their name, being sizeably larger than other wing locations. I would not call them giant, but I thought the name was appropriate in comparison to other wing places. The waitstaff is definitely attentive, asking if everything is alright and keeping my tea refilled. Overall, I would rate the food very well for what it is (pub food). I would also definitely come back, if another round of giant wings is what I craved. Open Sun-Thu 11am-11pm Fri-Sat 11am-12am

Favorite BBQ: Fred Flemming's (several locations). This is a casual table-service restaurant. Shorts/jeans and t-shirts are fine. Good value for dinner. No reservations needed, and service is quick. Take-out available.
Chopped (or 'pulled') pork sandwich/platter is made with very lean roasted pork, finely chopped, then lightly coated with BBQ sauce. Reliably excellent. Spoon Corn Bread - a signature dish here, this is a very moist corn bread, with whole kernel corn in it, topped with melted cheddar cheese. This is a true side dish - not just a bread item. Like a corn fritter, somewhat. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Several Clearwater locations - check the phone book for the one closest to you. I most often go to the one on US 19 in Palm Harbor (at Nebraska intersection). This is north of Clearwater.
