My kids also LOVED the arcade and their food isn't half bad. It's pretty affordable ($16.95 for the whole day and you re enter). Don't forget you have to buy grip socks to jum, they cost about $2.50 and...

On this particular business trip, I picked up a rental car from National at (actually near) the Tampa International Airport. There are many shopping malls in the Clearwater area. We spent a few hours at the Tyrone Square Mall, which is easily reached by bus.
Inside there are a huge range of shops, anice food court and even an ice rink.

Clearwater Warnings and Dangers

by HotelMan Written Jan 23, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Just a little advice from someone who lived here for two years....stingrays are abundant in Florida waters. Yes, the pain has been described as "hurting worse than childbirth!" Still, you can easily avoid this disruption to your vacation by just paying attention to where you put your feet! When wading through the water, shuffle your feet around a bit, stirring up the sand. Stingrays will leave you alone, unless you step directly on them. If you're stung, DO NOT put cold water on the wound. This makes it worse, and prolongs the pain. Instead, soak the wound in the hottest water available. I mean REALLY HOT water! Also, make sure that the barbs didn't dislodge under the skin. Naturally, that would cause an infection. If you take your problem to the emergency room, they'll charge you $500 to soak your foot in hot water and apply Neosporin! There's really nothing else you can do for it.

Clearwater Tourist Traps

  • Numerous "Junk" Shops

Buy whatever you want. It's your money! My advice, however, is to buy postcards and take lots of pictures. Just remember that whatever you accumulate during your travels must be lugged around and transported home.

Clearwater What to Pack

  • October Packing List

When it comes to the weather in the greater Tampa Bay area, summer is the norm. Make sure you bring clothes for warm weather as you are almost guaranteed several temperate days. Toward the end of October, however, there are a couple days that might actually fool you. On the night before I flew it, it dropped to 62! It was quickly back up to 75...

  • Make a list before you leave home

It would be odd to find yourself in a setting that isn't casual here. Pack accordingly. Still, if you're at all concerned, take something that would be classified as "business-casual." In the better restaurants, this will work great with dress codes. I shouldn't have to mention this, but I've witnessed it, so.....DON'T show up in the nicer places...

  • Packing List

This is a very casual area. Most restaurants allow shorts, and at those that don't, khakis and a collared shirt would be fine. Some nightclubs may not allow tank tops, sneakers. SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN! Waterproof is best - one of the 'sport' recipes is what I prefer. Sunglasses are also essential, and a hat isn't a bad idea if you're...
