If you're going to label something as such, know what you're talking about:
The Pirate cruise sails along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and Intercoastal Waterway, not Tampa Bay. The Safari stays inshore. Intercoastal is where you see Hogan's Tudor mansion and (I'm guessing the blue roof of the Biltmore) Hotel. Hulk's since sold that home, but don't know about his beach house just north of the Marina.

Pirates spend the entire cruise entertaining you.
Very festive. Dolphin are merely a bonus on these cruises if they happen to be in an area at a particular time. It is against the law to try to detect or attract them with any device.

Want Dolphin, hop the Clearwater Express Dolphin Encounter right next to the Pirates, and the Little Toot. You won't get too much closer to Dolphin than this. Very skilled, knowledgable. Dolphin are wild, you're in their house, and they do and DON'T do whatever they want. Crews are so good that the odds are very good you'll see their happy grins and get great photos of spontaneous Dolphin activity!

Thrillseekers: The Thriller (sleek, white speedboat) is just that, thrilling! The best.

If you are on a wave-runner and see a dolphin, IDLE YOUR ENGINE and DON'T harass them! They are sensitive to some motors, so they will bolt. Can rent these from the Thriller's owner. Will always see Capt. Larry there at the dock when not driving himself.

None of the vessels in that marina are tourist traps. There is a cruise for virtually anything you're looking for. Fast, slow, drink, eat, party, whatever. It's a wide array of variety at reasonable prices.

If you're looking for tourist traps, hit some gift shops and restaurants along the strips. Watch for quality- rather lack thereof. Do NOT buy pizza on Mandalay unless you hit Angelos (his real name) up northbeach -- and they're from Chicago!!

Unique Suggestions: LOOK out for quality! Clearwater is fun, but not the best in this regard aside from seafood. Avoid sunglasses - just remember your own.

Fun Alternatives: Save your money, pack your lunch and hit the beach or hop on a boat.

    Pirate Cruise

There are several tourist cruise boats that will take you on cruises of the Tampa Bay. There are really tourist traps. This one here is shaped like a pirate ship. The one I took was called a Safari Cruise. They said we might get to see some dophins. They also offered a pizza buffet. It was not real expensive. I paid $17.00 for a short cruise and lunch. The pizza was not great. The cruise was not very long. But I did get to see some beautiful shoreline and some magnificant mansions that are build on the Tampa Bay shore. We passed by John Travolta' s beach home . And right next door was Hulk Hogans mansion. The cruise also passed the hotel where television evangelist Jim Bakker had his affair that started the end of his television ministry and marriage. Interesting information and sites but not something I would recommend for an exciting afternoon.
