nice and relaxing, fun crowd
Water is kind of murky and beaches can get crowded
A wonderful beach and a Kennedy Space Center is around the corner

After spending two full days immersed in the Disney Culture, fate would have it that it was time to go head East and go see Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral. We picked this little place because we could sit outside to enjoy our sandwich under their umbrella with our dog, but it turned out to be really good . I had the Meat Lover sub and the meat was plentiful and good with fresh vegetables and even it had bag of chips on the side. Who could complain at $4.99. We didn't know the Thumann's name but they...more
We thought we'd try this place , not knowing if it would be a dud or not . We weren't disappointed . The music was great , they played lots of old jazz favorites and had no problem playing the numerous requests that were made also. No admittance fee and youo can have a bite or just a drink . It is a german place and the food is really good which...more
We couldn't decide how best to travel from Orlando to Port Canaveral, staying one night in Cocoa Beach prior to our cruise. We looked into shuttle buses of some sort, but they charge by the person, so it becomes quite expensive for four people. We used Hertz rent-a-car, for a one day rental prior to our cruise- and it's a good thing we did, since I...more

Fresh produce is part of Florida's culture. I love that there is actually a place here called Plant City, which of course is rich with farmland . One of the great things about Cocoa is that large sea turtles will lay their eggs here. Please do not do anything to disturb them. The beach will try to build small enclosures to let the eggs hatch. The survival rate for the baby turtles is shockingly low. Consider this: if the egg is not eaten by any number of predators and a baby turtle does...more
Riptides are incredibly dangerous and will sweep even the strongest swimmer out to sea if they aren't careful. Cocoa has riptides very often and the beach patrol is very good about posting. If you do find yourself caught in one, swim parralel to the shore until you are out of the rip.Parents: never take your eyes off you kids. EVER.more
During spring break land sharks from various colleges and universities inhabit the local beach pubs. If you're a female who likes sharks, you'll see fins to the left and fins to the right, and you'll know you're the beach bait. Since I'm not a surfer I can't say for sure, but I think if you're a real surfer, Ron Jon's isn't a tourist trap for you. However, if, like me, you were with a bus full of high school kids from the Midwest, most of whom have never seen the ocean before, it's the perfect place to buy your beach-related souvenirs. And since we didn't end up getting...more

Well as in most resorts in Florida a hat would be a good idea and a T-shirt to cover-up to block the suns harmful rays.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: For the same reason above a good sunblock and aftersun are essential.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: the usual beach wear : shorts , trunks , swimming costume/bikini , t-shirt , sarong.
Miscellaneous: I can't really comment too much as we only went on a day trip but I presume most things are available in resort.
This 22- acre tract of land was a dying wetland until the Zoo.One of the highlights of the Zoo, and one of its newest attractions, is the Wetlands Outspost Habitat.
Don't be surprised if you see a four-foot alligator sunning himself in the weeds, or a white-tailed deer snacking on some of the foliage.
