this place felt so laid back and safe! After 20 hours of delirious canoe paddling had impaired my heat stroked brain, I foolishly drove across town with a cell phone on the roof of my car (not mine, which would have been so not cool if it had fallen off). I went into a restaraunt and pigged out for two hours and my phone remained unmolested even though the parking lot was half full of teenaged boys. now that's COOL!

the insects are murderous, so get super duper back woods off. the everyday stuff is out of the question--it's gotta be super super toxic! If you want to decrease your risk of getting multiple attacks of cancer, try wearing light clothing that covers as much of your body as possible that can also withstand getting wet--a narrow combination, right? but you'll thank yourself for it! and of course tons of sunscreen, a sound mind, and TONS of water!

Be careful around the aligators and poisonous snakes.

The Seminole Tribe of FLorida live on the Big Cypress which is a part of the Seminole Indian Reservation.
The Indians have thousands of cattle on this land.

When I went to take this picture they all turned and looked at me. Very interesting.

    LOUD

    by lar-n-me Updated Apr 19, 2004

Our guide (as I'm sure the others do, too) made sure we all were protected from the loudness of the engine, which was only while going fast. I'm certain I saw other 'boaters' without them, but can't imagine it. I recommend wearing something over your ears.
