We stopped at the Tropical Everglades Visitor's Center while on our way to the Keys. The center is a small house but full of information. The staff inside are very knowledgeable about local attractions and driving directions. We stopped in and grabbed some maps and books on local attractions.
**They also have restrooms, souveniers, beverages and snacks for the weary traveler.**

Florida City is a great launching point to get to the Everglades. Just follow signs, you can't miss them. You can take an airboat ride, watch an alligator show, and see lots of wildlife. A small alligator was on the side of the road when we drove through!

Ummm....interesting. If you have some time and $10 to kill you can check out the Coral Castle. It is pretty, I imagine a wedding would look nice inside.
The guy who created this place, Ed Leedskalnin, apparently knew the secret of how the pyramids and mayan cities were built, and managed to build his coral castle using only basic junky tools. It took him 28 years to finish.
Noone knows for sure why he built it, but it is believed he built it for a girl he loved, known mostly as "sweet sixteen". Apparently, she did not return his love and never visited the castle.

The Florida Keys Scenic Highway is one incredible drive. One side you have the Atlantic Ocean and the other is the Gulf of Mexico. Driving down the highway was great. The views of the water was unbelievable. The shades of blue from deep aqua, to light turquoise to baby blue were a sight to see.
Liz and I enjoyed driving this stretch of highway. There are plenty of spots to stop and eat, take pictures or just enjoy the views.

We arrived a Friday afternoon and we have time to visit the Mall which was 1 block from the hotel. We went by car because 1 block outside the city means 500 meters !
The mall was empty though the prices seemed to be low.
The first store we entered gave us a large reduction and several coupons to get other clothes at a discounted price in other stores. May be, we were the only clients of the day.
We go to the food court to have a snack and to have to choose a sit between all the empty chairs.
What to buy: 50 stores. Mainly clothing.
Monday - Saturday : 10AM-9PM
Sunday : 11AM-7PM
What to pay: We did some bargains during our visit.

Driving through Florida City en route to the Everglades, you'll see odd neon signs by the side of the road proclaiming that "Robert is here." You might be wondering the same thing I was: Who is Robert and where is here?
Juat outside the outskirts of Florida City is a large structure resembling an oversized fruit stand or something similar. The sign above the building reads "Robert is Here." Robert has been here since the 1960's, in case you were wondering. The store is, in fact a fruit stand which sells fresh fruits and other snacks, including the unique and supposedly delicious Key Lime milkshake.
In addition to mangoes, passionfruit and others whose names ring a bell, Robert has some exotic choices, like the ugly fruit. Its definitely a unique place and worth a stop, especially if you love fruit.
