The 2nd Beach is a long way from the Lifeguards
The outer Beach is basically unattended as far as the Lifeguards are concerned. However they will respond. In this case the Lifeguard had to drive all the way around the little inlet but she was able to repond to a young child. I am not exactly sure what happened to the young child but the response time was hindered by the distance. The lifeguards and emergency response did a great job in this instance however.
Sailboats and Draw Bridge
There is only one way off the island and if you own a sailboat you are king. The drawbridge operators can care the least how many vehicles they stop. Miles and miles of vehicles can stop for hours and hours. Just the way it is out here on Tierre Verde which is the only way to Ft; Desoto. So just be prepared is all I can say.
Shuffle your Feet for Stingrays
Shuffle your Feet. There are plenty of Stingrays in the water. They will not hurt you intentionally but shuffling your feet signals them you are in the area.
