located a block south of broward blvd. in downtown fort lauderdale is beautiful las olas blvd. las olas blvd. offers upscale clothing stores, restaurants, and bars. one of the nicest shopping streets in south florida.
Its a long trip! but what i did since i didnt have to much time in ft. lauderdale was to walk from the beachfront all the way till the other end of Las Olas Boulaverd!!
First you have the beach ofcourse and as you go over the causeway you start to see the huge beautiful mansions with big yachts behind the houses! its quite a long tiring walk but also nice!! then you come to a shopping area of that street with many nice small little shops and very expensive cars parked in front! Also lots of restaurants and little café's. A good place to have a coffee break! As you continue you start to see some very high office buildings....then a little park and then the riverfront shopping centre with some small shops, a nice bar/ cafe with great cheesecake! and live music!! This is all down at the riverfront!!
There are so many shops and restaurants on Los Olas Blvd. From the affordable to the ultra expensive. It's so nice to walk around, especially at night. The people watching is top notch. If you can afford to, I'd suggest staying at one of the hotels right on the strip. There aren't many, but all are top notch.
I lived off one of the Islands on Las Olas back in 1991, what a lifestyle to have a canal for my back yard. Loa Olas was always trendy, but the City invested a lot of time to make it even nicer. Sure, it's expensive, but it is a beautiful place to walk, shop, eat, drink, and people watch.
