Even though I didn't go swimming when I was in Florida, a hurricane was on the way, I did take the opportunity to walk along the shore. Even there I could feel the strength of the under tow. I could only imagine a small child getting pulled out to sea.
When Jason and I were strolling down the beach, we came across an unfortunate young lady who had fallen asleep in the mid-day sun lying on her stomach. Her back and the back of her legs were redder than a boiled lobster. I woke her up and let her know about her back, she was thankful and quickly packed up to go home. She looked as if she was in soooo much pain.
For some the close proximity of rich and poor can be shocking, even appalling. In the sugarkane-fields the living-situation is variating from simple to very poor, when five miles further one lives in mansions with swimmingpool, tennislane and huge yaught. Not to insult the ones that have done it in the first way, but still I don't understand that they can close their eyes for the poverty of their direct neighbors.
