Most of Fort Myers Beach is laid back, with quiet beaches, small cottages, motels, and come condos. However, the intersection of San Carlos Boulevard and Estero Boulevard is so busy, with its nightlife, shopping, and entertainment, that it has come to be known as Times Square. This is the heart of the town and the busiest area for tourists. Fort Myers Beach also welcomes street performers to this area to perform shows and entertainment for the tourists.

When I read about the Times Square area in travel books, I was under the impression this would be a hopping area with a huge selection of bars, restaurants, and shops. I also thought their would be a big amount of street musicians and artists. Actually, it only consists of several restaurants and bars, and a couple of your typical beach shops. Very small. Only one street musician when I was there. At least it is easy to get around, and is near the pier and the busiest part of the beach.

times square is named after a clock located next to the beach in downtown fort myers beach. this one block pedestrian street is lined with restaurants and bars. a fun place to visit when in fort myers beach.

This was a rather interesting entertainer, he covered himself in a copper colored suit, painted his skin the same color and sat on a moped until someone came by to look closer at him and then he would move, startle the person, kinda funny really. But you would pay him a tip if you liked his form of entertainment or if you took a photo which is only fair. Support the local artist.

You should check out Time Square while staying here, this is pretty much the center o town. Alot of things happen right here day and night, the entertainment, activities, food and shopping all start here! This is a great place to meet your party if you get seperated, or meet after shopping and have an icecream! As the sun starts to go down this is where every one comes to watch so get there early and claim your spot.
