There were a few kitesurfers near the Hollywood Beach Marriott but most were further north in the distance. It was fun to watch them. One of the videoclips shows a couple of kitesurfers coming in and going back out as they tracked south past the hotel.

This looks like a combination of snowboarding and parasailing - with just a rider, a board, and that huge kite!
Significant air can be reached w/ techiniques that have the user hit a cresting wave - aerial acrobatics abound!!!
I'd never seen this sport before, and didn't have time to take a class - but I did talk to the students and instructors on the beach for info ..... The attached website give info on the sport in general, as well as beginner classes that are offered on North Hollywood Beach :)
