Marina Del Rey
Marina Del Rey is a very small marina on Lake Harris, the 4th largest lake in Florida.
Pontoon and bass boats can be rented or you can take a 1 1/2 hour cruise on the wooden 1930's River Yacht, "La Reina".
Fishin Lake Harris
Of course fishing is a popular acitivity in the lake. Species include bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass & sunfish.
Unfortunately this lake is over-fished and too many tournaments are held here. Pollution is also a major concern as the sprawl of Orlando creeps even closer.
The presence of bald eagles along the shores of Lake Harris was totally unexpected. We must have seen 3 pair.
Florida has the largest bald eagle population in the southeast, around 70%. Though the bald eagle has made a remarkable comeback in recent years, they are continuously threatened by rampant development, habitat loss, and pollution.
They can reach 3 feet in height and have a wingspan of 8 feet.

There's a boardwalk which winds through the moss covered trees and canals leading to the lake. If you want to skip the scenic route just walk along the asphalt street to the lake.
Views are better from the top deck. Surprisingly we were the only 2 on board. They will cruise even if one passenger shows up.
While walking to the lake on the boardwalk we did see 4 baby gators, barely visible through the green soup like waters in the canals.
