annk Says: Marina Del Rey is a very small marina on Lake Harris, the 4th largest lake in Florida.Pontoon and bass boats can be rented or you can take a 1 1/2 hour cruise on the wooden 1930's River Yacht, "La Reina".
annk Says: Of course fishing is a popular acitivity in the lake. Species include bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass & sunfish. Unfortunately this lake is over-fished and too many tournaments are held here. Pollution is also a major concern as the sprawl of Orlando creeps even closer.

annk Says: There's a boardwalk which winds through the moss covered trees and canals leading to the lake. If you want to skip the scenic route just walk along the asphalt street to the lake.
annk Says: Views are better from the top deck. Surprisingly we were the only 2 on board. They will cruise even if one passenger shows up.

By car is your best option, although expensive shuttle service is available from the airport. Howey is located approximately 35 minutes northwest of Orlando.
Directions from Orlando International Airport:
West on the Beeline to the Florida Turnpike. North on the turnpike to Route 27/19. Take route 19 north a couple of miles to Howey.

36 holes of championship golf is available at the Mission Inn. The courses are known to have numerous water hazards and elevation variances of 85' not so typical for the flat state of Florida. Every year the courses continue to win numerous awards. Many golf packages are available.

Helpfulness
Favorite thing: The Mission Inn. The views are gorgeous....worth stopping by for a visit or meal even if not golfing or staying at the resort.
Their lunch buffet (at La Hacienda) is pretty good, same view as shown. Hot buffet $11.00, cold buffet $6.95.
Fondest memory: There are a couple of resident gators which can be seen basking in the sun sometimes.
