fort cooper was built in 1836 during the second seminole war. the fort was named after major mark anthony cooper who was the commander of the first georgia battalion. there were minor skirmishes with the seminoles in the area but fort cooper was mainly used as a hospital during general winfield scott's march to tampa. a reconstruction of fort cooper is on beautiful lake holathlikaha. this beautiful state park offers swimming and fishing on lake holathikaha and five miles of walking trails. for those interested in old florida history and nature fort cooper is well worth a visit when in the inverness area.

We believe that people make the difference at Cockadoodles. You will find the entire place decorated with hens & roosters. The host and servers are friendly and the service is great.
Favorite Dish: This place is only opened at breakfast and lunch (they close at 2:30PM), but they have a great menu. We have enjoyed their egg dishes, lunchtime salads, sandwiches and daily specials. I especially like to order chicken salad with cottage cheese and cole slaw. It is really a refreshing dish anytime but especially on a hot day.
