Its simple. There are only 5 cities in the USA that have non-stop service into Jacksonville through more than 1 airline. Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, D.C. and Atlanta. The theme is you can fly into Jacksonville from a hub airport, otherwise you are going to change planes in a hub.(ie Delta will take you through Atlanta or Cincinnati, US Air you go through Philadelphia, DC or Charlotte and so on.) check our website for a somewhat complete snapshot view of flight options in and out of Jacksonville International Airport

If you've ever landed on Miami or Orlando you'll know it's crowded at the airport. If you like it a little more relaxed you should try flying in to florida from here. You can get you suitcases from the belt whilst you travel compagnion can arrange your rental car...No buses to the rental station and wait twice..

Take a cab! The streets are so screwed downtown. There's no rhyme or reason to the layout of the city.
The watertaxis are nice to way to cross the St. John's river. They only cost about $1.50 each way.
Since Interstate Highway 95 runs right through Jacksonville, it's easy to get there by car. There is a Greyhound station in the town as well.

Jacksonville is a BIG city, in land area. I lived in Jacksonville for 5 years and it is the best city I have ever lived in. Depending where you live, either fly or drive
JTA's Airport Flyer
Cost-conscious travelers have an affordable and comfortable option making their way between the airport and Jacksonville's downtown and southside. The JTA Airport Flyer operates weekdays every hour on the hour from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm, starting at the airport and then picking up at downtown businesses and hotels and Southpoint hotels. This downtown to Southpoint connection will also serve as a 'shuttle' for hotels guests and employees to ride downtown or connect to existing JTA routes during the day.
The Airport Flyer costs only $7 per trip to the airport and the subsequent downtown to Southpoint service is only $1 each way.
Downtown stops include Omni, Hilton, Radisson, and Hampton Inn Hotels, CSX Transportation, Barnett Bank and BellSouth buildings, the Jacksonville Landing, FCCJ downtown transfer station and the Greyhound Bus Station. Southpoint stops include 13 southside hotels.
Using the service couldn't be easier. Airport pick-up is located on the terminal's lower level at the north end curb. Bus stop locations are clearly posted at or near each stop, no reservations are required and wait time is minimal. The bus will drop passengers at the airline of choice providing efficient door-to-door service.
Ground Transportation
Annett Bus Lines Motor Coaches and East Coast Transportation limousines and minibuses offer full-service guided transportation, including meet & greet, airport transfers and sightseeing for meetings and groups.
Individual transit needs are met by operations such as Gator City Taxi and Yellow Cab Company.
Car Rental
Jacksonville offers all the major car rental agencies at the airport as well as other locations throughout the city. At the airport, car pick-up and delivery can be arranged right at the main terminal without having to be shuttled to an off-site location. For reservations and more information, contact car rental companies.
River Taxis
Water taxi service across the St. Johns River to the Jacksonville Landing, Metropolitan Park, various restaurants and to special events is provided by two companies. Boarding locations can be found at the Jacksonville Landing, Hilton Hotel, Crawdaddy's Restaurant, and the Radisson Riverwalk Hotel.
One way fees are $2 per adult, $1 per child/senior.
Daily service from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Skyway Express
An integral part of Jacksonville's bus/light rail transit system, the Skyway's quiet, non-polluting cars glide above the busy streets. Mobility within the downtown area is greatly increased as climate-controlled vehicles depart from stations every three minutes during peak periods. The Skyway services the Convention terminal (Prime Osborn Convention Center), Central (Omni Hotel, Jacksonville Landing) and Hemming Plaza (City Hall at St. James) stations on the Northbank and the Dupont Station on the Southbank. (904)630-3110. Southbank service will begin in late 1998.
Hours:
Monday - Thursday, 6:30 am - 7:30 pm
Friday, 6:30 am - 10:00 pm
Weekend service only for special events.
Greyhound Bus Lines
Greyhound Bus Lines operates from downtown Jacksonville at #10 Pearl Street. For fares and schedules, call (800)231-2222.
Amtrak
Amtrak offers twice daily northbound and southbound passenger train routes and thrice weekly eastbound/ westbound routes. The station is located at 3570 Clifford Lane. For more information and reservations, call (800)872-7245.
Bike Taxis
Take a fun, unique ride in a Ped-L-Taxi in downtown Jacksonville. At $1 per block, you can take a Ped-L-Taxi to lunch, a meeting, or shopping downtown. This is a great way to get to the Jaguar games or to add a little interest to weddings or birthdays. Special tours and courier services also available. (904)354-3557

I didn't fly into Jacksonville, but if you do, you might need to know the airport code, which is JAX.

If you are very good with maps and directions and the south take the back way to everywhere you go because it is beautifull. If not STAY ON THE MAJOR ROADS because you will get lost very easily.

While they are a little more expensive than the riding the monorail or bridge walking, Jacksonville's water taxis offer a very relaxing and scenic option for crossing back and forth between the Northbank and Southbank sections of downtown. It's fun to just sit back and admire the glassy towers and river scenery as you cruise.
When catching the water taxi on the Southbank, be sure to catch it at River City Brewing Company. Catching it here provides a longer ride as the taxi makes two more stops along the Southbank before it actually crosses over to the Jacksonville Landing.
Nighttime rides are especially romantic as the skyscrapers and Friendship Fountain are illuminated in an array of colors.

For a mere 35 cents per ride you can enjoy a fun, uncrowded and convenient journey through the center of the downtown central business district courtesy of the Automated Skyway Express.
The Skyway is an elevated monorail that slices through the center of the Northbank, then forks to either whisk passengers across the Acosta Bridge to the Southbank and its hotels or to send them westward to the Prime Osborne Convention Center. It is very convenient to most hotels, restaurants, venues and points of interest on the Southbank and in the central Northbank, with stops positioned within about a block of each of the following (in order from south to north)
1. Spiller Vincenty Gallery, Club Indo/Exo
2. Radisson Riverwalk Hotel, Chart House Restaurant, Southbank Riverwalk, river cruises, water taxis
3. Hilton Hotel, Hampton Inn, Extended Stay America, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Morton’s of Chicago, Southbank Riverwalk, Treaty Oak Park, river cruises, water taxis
4. Museum of Science & History, Maritime Museum, Friendship Fountain, Southbank Riverwalk, River City Brewing Company, water taxis
5. Jacksonville Landing, Omni Hotel, T-U Performing Arts Center, Northbank Riverwalk, Juliet’s
6. Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art, Hemming Plaza, City Hall
7. Florida Community College Downtown Campus
The track does not extend east of the Jacksonville Landing to points like the Adam's Mark Hotel, the Florida Theatre and the Sports Complex, but there is a free trolley service than can take you in that direction from near the Skyway route.
