 | Jacksonville Restaurants | Tips 11 - 20 of 95 | | Consistently voted best pizza in Jax by readers of various local publications, Al's Pizza is a Jacksonville legend. Each of the local chain's four locations has a unique, somewhat funky, somewhat trendy decor that gives it an ambience worthy of the pizzas, calzones and other favorites they create.

Barbara Jeans has a couple of restaurants in the South Georgia/North Florida Area. This one is situated on the Intracoastal and offers a relaxed enviroment and great seafood.
The She Crab Soup is awesome and they will ship it to you from their online store if you like. Their Chicken Fingers sampler is excellent as well. The Pecan Crusted Chicken Fingers are unique. Also try their Crab Cakes while you are there. The emphasis is on the crab, not the fillers! Known for it's casual family style atmosphere, Barbara Jean's is always good, always dependable and has a great view (when the boats are running) of the Intracoastal. Don't dress up - it's definitely low-key. The crabcakes are some of the best I've ever had and the she-crab soup is amazing (with a kick!). Landlubbers love the comfort food - fried fish. pot roast, and meatloaf. Small but adequate wine list and the kids can howl and no one will notice - they've also got their own menu at a good price for the quantity. Ask your hotel concierge for directions - it's back a few miles off A1A and the chic part of Ponte Vedra, but worth the drive.

This "beachy" eatery in Atlantic Beach is one of my favorite breakfast spots. Cozy and comfortable this relatively small diner is a popular locals' hangout. Open until 2 p.m., their menu includes a wide variety of breakfast combinations as well as sandwiches and salads. Inside, white walls with light yellow accents and soft watercolor artwork depicting various beach scenes exude an atmosphere of warmth, friendliness and relaxation. A gourmet sandwich place similar to Panera or Atlanta Bread Company in menu, Bear Rock Cafe is in a rare class when it comes to decor. While outside the view across the lake includes pastel colored apartment buildings and young magnolia trees, inside the theme is all northwestern mountain lodge, complete with a chandelier made of antlers and a stone fireplace surrounded by art depicting mountain wildlife. In a city famous for beaches, palms and marshlands, Bear Rock Cafe offers a decidedly different character. The Bear Rock Cafe is located in an upscale, multi-building shopping complex in the bustling Tinseltown/Deerwood area, a popular neighborhood known for office parks, hotels, its namesake multiplex theater and a very high concentration of restaurants.

This trendy bistro is one of the best places to eat in Jacksonville! The ambiance is outstanding and the food is to die for. Try the Apple Dill chicken salad wrap, it won't disappoint. The lavish dessert counter is what really sets this place apart. Also try the sister restaurant to Biscotti's called BB's.
The apple dill chicken salad wrap- chicken salad with a twist: chicken salad, apples, grapes, havarti dill cheese in a wrap that is grilled on the outside...deeeelish! This is what every neighborhood should have--a stylish, comfortable, upscale eatery that is consistently reliable and always a good time. The eclectic space has grown over the years to accomodate the restaurant's popularity, but remains cozy and attractive is a NYC Soho sort of way--exposed brick walls, changing artwork, high ceilings. You can also eat outside at the small cafe tables and watch your neighbors strolling the Avondale shops. Food is upscale bistro--unique salads and sandwiches, gourmet pizzas, generous appetizers--although there is always a small, but good choice of specials as well, typically one fish dish, one meat dish, and a pasta choice. In the dozens of times I've eaten here over the years--breakfast, lunch and dinner--I've had only one subpar meal. Nice wine and beer selection, if a little pricey. The service is also consistently good. A great local hangout, and worth the trip even if you're not in the Avondale area.
The fish specials are always fabulous, as is the Thai Chicken Salad, and any of the pizzas. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 3556 St. Johns Ave.Phone: 904.387.2060Directions: Neighborhood: The Shoppes of Avondale

Great brunch for under $9 USD. Huge dessert selection - best in town. It gets busy in here after church hours on Sunday - so arrive prior to 11:00. It can also be fairly noisy at night during dinner hours - but the ambiance is great for couples and groups of friends.
My favorite item at brunch is the prosciutto, arugula, and sundried tomato fritatta. It comes served with home fries on top, and is drizzled with white truffle oil. Imagine eating at a trendy Manhattan eatery with an eclectic menu, stylish and contemporary interior design, an open kitchen and a lovely courtyard. That's what you will experience if you choose to dine at Bistro AIX in Jacksonville's trendy San Marco neighborhood, located just a few blocks south of the Downtown Southbank. Perhaps that's why the restaurant has been profiled in a major travel magazine and consistently ranks in various local publications' top 25 restaurants lists.
