Located near the popular Mandarin and Baymeadows neighborhoods in the southern part of Jacksonville, The Avenues Mall is one of Jacksonville's largest and still holds its own as an upscale mall despite the newer and more popular St. Johns Town Center (see my travelogue). Featuring two stories of stores covered under a canopy of glassy skylights (including two large glass domes), The Avenues is a bright, polished and airy place to spend an afternoon. The Avenues' tenant list includes a variety of upscale and designer stores like Williams-Sonoma, Abercrombie & Fitch, Pottery Barn, Banana Republic, Talbots, Brookstone and others.
I read the other comments about this mall. While it is a really nice mall & has a good food court, it is not nearly as big as Colorado Mills in Denver, CO or Park Meadows south of Denver. If you are ever in the area, check them out. By all means, going to the Avenues in JAX is a good time. We spent three hours there shopping, eating, & walking around.
What to buy: The Rack shoe store gives a 15% discount to military that we used & thought was really nice of them to do.
What to pay: As much as your credit card will hold.
These are 2 Huge Shopping Malls, with over 150 shops in each. Also some decent Food halls.
What to buy: You can find anything that you want here, from sports wear to Furnishing.
What to pay: What ever the credit card will allow, remember always look out for the sales, the main ones being (as everyware) January Back to school and 4July sales. If you are there at any of these times allow for extra suitcase space.
This place is really big and you probably find anything you want around. It's close to the crossing of I-95, I-295 and Highway 1.
