Beware of one-way streets and sharp turns!

    Be careful -- like many large cities, Jacksonville has lots of one-way streets. Also, in many locations, you can't just get off the exit and immediately locate the street you are looking for. You may have to change several lanes, zipping through heavy traffic.

    If you are not a seasoned driver, don't worry about missing an exit. Just drive on and turn around. Of course, it is time-consuming; but you will still be alive!!!

    Having accurate directions, not just maps, is a great help!

    The horseback riding was managed quite well, but we were in a group of people who preferred to converse - and had some expectation that we would have been able to do so. Unfortunately, we were assigned to horses in accordance with our hosts' perception of compatability of horse and rider - not social groups. We did a short jaunt through a wooded area adjacent to the beach then up the beach and back - always in single file, not often close enough to carry on a conversation. The horses were well mannered, but of the 'dude' variety and I am sure were quite capable of managing the ride without us telling them what to do! It was not a bad time, but also not the best choice.
