Favorite thing: Due to the nature of the tidal current, as well as the structure of the Florida Keys, most of the sand that you find on the beaches here is actually imported from the Caribbean!!
You will see deliveries made, especially to hotel beaches, which are then spread over the beach during the early hours so that it's all there when you go to sun bathe!
Fondest memory: Wonderfully tropical warm weather and great sunsets!

Favorite thing: Glass Bottom Boat tour was terrific! Goes out to the underwater park where you can watch the fish.....if the water is calm and/or you don't get seasick easily!!
Fondest memory: Sitting on the small beach at the Sunset Cove motel watching the sunset and the sailboats on the bay.

Favorite thing: The hotel we stayed in was ok but the surrounding they created was great.
Who doesn't want to have a simple breakfast with this view. I do, after a few years this still brings back nice memories.
This is really getting away from the hectic world i call home, because it was early we had our own private beach.

Favorite thing: With all the water surrounding Key Largo you can't just go here without taking a boat trip. We took a trip aboard the Key Largo Princess. But even when weren't looking down through the bottom the trip was great. Sun, water, birds and boats who needs more when on a vacation.

Favorite thing: While in the Keys you'll at some point be drawn to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.
Plan on getting there early and booking a trip out on a charter to snorkle or scuba dive.
You will be overwhelmed with the tourists who will really annoy you. Even if you are one.
Make sure you go on a charter as the immediate area is disgusting and we skipped it as an option to snorkle and dive.
Even too gross to kayak.
Just the way the seaweed grows, but who do that when an hour boat ride will get you to some amazing dives.

Favorite thing: Key Largo or the smaller Key Biscaine are excellent startingpoint for diving-tours. There is for everyone something (glassbottom boats, snorkling and skuba-diving). Keep to the instructions of the organising club and it is perfectly safe.
Fondest memory: The coralreefs are a whole different world then ours. It's magical and will enchant you like nothing before. The feeling of being weightless in the water and the colourful world in which you seem to fly ... it's miraculous.

Favorite thing: If you are looking for a beach you have come to the wrong place! The beaches are not what you expect for Florida. No white soft sand , no long walks on beach they are not big enough. Most of them are just a spit of sand . The best one we found was in Key West
SMATHERS BEACH
Location: south side of Key West on South Roosevelt Blvd.
We had wanted to go to FORT JEFFERSON - DRY TORTUGAS
but the rain didn't permit us to. We were told this is the place to find the beaches.
Dry Tortugas, about 68 miles from Key West. The Dry Tortugas are part of the National Park system and can only be accessed by boat or sea plane.

Favorite thing: Relax on the bay side and watch the sunset. Unlike Key West or Negril, there's no clapping or cheering, just people enjoying themselves.

Favorite thing: The lake was great! It had a large trampoline for the kids to jump from. It was full of interesting fish. I just enjoyed walking along the paths beside it.
