fat tuesdays daiquiri bar has been on duval street for decades. this bar has a new orleans mardi gras theme. the main reason to visit fat tuesdays is their huge sellection of frozen daiquiris. a nice place to cool off and sip a frozen daiquiri on a hot south florida day.
Dress Code: casual.
Fat Tuesday's is a popular South Florida franchise known for its frozen mixed drinks. The formula is pretty basic- a great deal of alcohol covered by a sweet fruity concoction and then chilled to a temperature guaranteed to give you a massive headache if you drink too fast. But the Fat Tuesday's on Duval Street is another must for any Key West pub crawl.
There is little to see and do inside this place. Seating is limited and the bar is always crowded. But if you;ve never been to a Fat Tuesdays, stop in here for a drink. And even if you are familiar with the frozen drink establishment, its worth a stop just to watch the crowd of imbibing tourists.
Even though it is one of the tourist bars, Fat Tuesday's is still a great place to hang out, especially on a warm night. Grab a seat by the railing for people-watching, or belly up to the bar to knock down a few of the overpriced but still potent frozen drinks. The 190 Octane is not for the faint, and the rumrunners and hurricanes can put you in on "island time" in a hurry. Two tips - order the sqeeze bottle size except during happy hour (your hand doesn't get cold, it's the best value, and you don't look like a mainlander with some stupid yard glass) and get the $1 rum topper, unless you like constant brain freeze.
Dress Code: It's the Keys; there is no dress code. There's also the occasional "undress" during Fantasy Fest and New Year's.
The McDonald's of frozen drinks still packs them in with up to 20 premade frozen drinks dispensed from ice cream machine-like devices.
