Schooner Wharf Bar: Open Air Bar - Live Music
Loud, crowded beach bar. There were a LOT of people here and all seemed to be having a good time, dancing to the live band and laughing. We stayed a little while - we were with a group (pre-wedding party), but the inability to carry on a conversation eventually led to us leaving and heading down Duval Street...
Definitely a party going on here!
Schooner Wharf Bar: Schooners Wharf Bar - Key West Harbor
Schooners sits along the waters of the harbor, and is more of a locals dive than most of the other places we tried in Key West. We arrived in this big, smoky bar around 8pm and we got the last two stools at the bar. The hand there was playing some noisy blues, that might have been ok if the sound system didn't suck. The place was also amazingly smoky for a place with no walls. We only stayed for about an hour before we needed a change of scenery.
Schooner Wharf Bar: Favorite Hangout
This fast became our favorite hangout. Great view of the water and lots of live entertainment. Course the more you drank the better they sounded but enjoyed them all! Some days the humans barely outnumbered dogs which further added to the atmosphere. Good food and ice cold beer reasonably priced. The music was usually toned down so that you could visit while listening during the day. Lots of friendly people working and hanging out there.
Schooner Wharf Bar: Authentic old Key West
The most authentic place of what old Key West used to be, before it came so touristy. One of the last. Mostly frequented by locals or visitors who visit KW often, it's a great place to come to happy hour (live music), a drink, a snack.
It's really nothing special actually, just an old shack near the seaport, with a bar and a few tables. But the atmosphere is unbeatable.
