    The conch tour train

You will see these colorful open air trains snaking their way along Duval Street and contributing to the congestion on the narrow roads. On board, tourists in bright floral print sit and watch the crowd, which is precisely what they would be doing if they were not on board this train.

The conch tour train does provide a lot of information on the history of Key West, but most people aren't even listening. It is an overpriced tourist gimmick that doesn't go anywhere most tourists will go on their own. There are so many things to do in Key West and this one is a waste of time.

Unique Suggestions: There are a couple of exceptions to the above. Those who have difficulty walking may prefer to tour Key West in this manner. Also, the trains are supposed to be accessible to wheelchair users so those with mobility impairments may prefer the train to navigating the older and often inaccessible streets of Key West.

Fun Alternatives: Go snorkeling or scuba diving, walk along Duval Street, visit the muiseums and parks, have a drink at Sloppy Joe's, There are far better ways to spend your time.

    Arrrgghhh don't take this train

by spintobecca Written Jun 5, 2003

Please please don't take this train, it's owned by a crook who takes his money off island, so your dollars are not benefiting the local communitiy. Take a walking tour and be healthy and better informated of this little island!

Unique Suggestions: If you have to go, make sure to grumble and cuss a great deal.

Fun Alternatives: Do the earth and yourself a favor, take a walking tour!
