  • warning to senior who want to have fun in key west

by seniorgonewild Written Apr 27, 2013 5 reviews

fellow seniors, be careful in jimmy buffet Margaretville, because if you are too noisy they will ask you to leave. that what happen to me. let me tell you the whole story. you can agree or not, this is what happen to me. I am on here because I do not want this to happen to anyone else. I went on another travel site which say the are advising travelers says this story is inappropriate and had it removed. what I did not know at that time is they remove all negatives from their forums. a group of 3 senior citizens, 2 disability and I have a 50% hearing loss. for those who wonder why some senior talk so loud its because they can't hear, we wanted to have fun in key west, we went to the area around mallloy square, the trolley, stores and bars, sloppy's joes, ricks, if the English guy is there I found him so funny. but its for adults only. and everyone treated us great. we laugh so hard, I cried at times. 3 years ago we went to margaretaville and had a blast, not this time. place 3/4 empty, I been to funerals with more noise. their web site say get the party started and keep it going. dive bar, not in key west. went we got there that's when the problem starts
the bartender throws the menu at my friends, to be fair, we did buy a conch shell, at the shell warehouse, it was the cheapest place we found, near where the trolley starts since it was the conch rebellion celebration, and was told it was the national instrument. my friend tried to get the party started by blowing the conch shell, the second time he blew it, the bartender told him to stop, hey at that point he stopped cleaning the back bar long enough to do that, my friend never blew it inside again. he went out to the public sidewalk and blew it. 5 new friends heard it and came in to join us. the same bartender serve a alcohol drink to a women and said she should be drink water. if he thought that why give her a drink. my party ordered another round and the ladies including me goes to the ladies room. from what I found out when I got back while we were gone the guys went out on the sidewalk and tried to blow the conch shell, and when they came back in, talked about sports, one of the guys had a Cleveland brown hat on, and the boys gave a go, browns, go, cheer. now, remember all of us had 7 or 8 people had just got a drink, when the ladies found out that the boys tried the conch shell, they went out on the public sidewalk to try their luck. when we returned to the bar, all the drinks were gone and our bills were waiting for us in high ball glasses. when I asked what was going on, where was my drink, he said we were all cut off for being too noisy. when I asked to see the manager he said get out. to add insult to injury my friend with the conch shell went to shake hands and give the bartender a tip and tell him we were just trying to have fun. he said throw it on the bar. if I had known that I would have never let that happen. I would have told that bartender to stick it where the sun does not shine. one of the handicapped guys, he has trouble walking, we took back to our hotel, which was great, dropped him off we went to other bars back down by malloy square and had no problems. if you can you have to see the action around the pier about an hour before sunset, it was great .its was too bad that jimmy buffet's had felt that we were a danger because we were so noisy, be careful it does not happen to you. life is too short for us to have to subject ourselves to that. senior gone wild
