Kissimmee Things to Do

  • The Museum of Military History

The Museum of Military History in Kissimmee has been at its present location for 3 years. Run by volunteers, it is not a large museum but it does cover wars from the American Civil War to present day conflicts. It is a browsing museum, nothing interactive here and there is library of military books. Each conflict has its own area with uniforms,...

  • Lake Tohopekaliga

We had been to Kissimmee and Lake Tohopekaliga, known locally as Lake Toho once before. Since our last visit a few years ago the lake front area has been given a 30 million dollar make over. There are grassed areas, play area, covered areas, toilets, cafes, seating, a marina, boat hire, a fishing pier, a 1 mile walkway and there is plenty of...

Well, you know us Americans. We are scared of SARS... having said that, I suggest -- Americans, that you just bring your fat bottoms down to Kissimmee's Splendid China and you can save TIME and MONEY! And isn't it the same, anyway?!

  • Big Toho Airboat Rides

With less than five minutes to spare before the last Big Toho airboat tour of the day is scheduled to leave, my companion and I arrive in the parking lot. I run to the bathroom while she hides behind the car to change her shirt into something a little less formal. We quickly walk/run across the muddy grass, climb on board the boat, and sit down...

Kissimmee Restaurants

  • Local Diner

A simple family run diner that normally has a number of specials on offer. With friendly, helpful staff and reasonable prices. Friendly service with coffee top ups. Lin tried a breakfast with pancakes but it was huge and I had to assist to clear the plates. I tried a hamburger, fries and coleslaw during one visit and it was a pleasant meal.

  • Nice Diner

We tried out One Sweet Sista a couple of time and enjoyed our meals on both occasions. The staff are very pleasant and obliging with coffee top ups. It has a fresh look about it and the premises look very clean and tidy. Both times I tried the daily special that was on offer. We would have eaten there a third time but it was unfortunately closed.

  • Perfect steaks

Logan's is not a steakhouse I remember being aware of before 2012 but we visited twice not only because it was on the dorstep of the Super 8 motel we were staying at but also the very very dependable steaks, served with all the options of sides you could want. Starters and sweets too, of course, but finishing up dinner will be a deceptive struggle...

The major gateway to Orlando and Walt Disney World is Orlando International Airport (MCO). The airport is ultramodern and huge. However, it is relatively easy to navigate. Monorails shuttle you from gate areas to the core area, where you'll find the baggage claim. The airport lies about 17 miles northeast of Kissimmee.
As we had no transportation during our stay in Kissimmee, we took a taxi from the airport to our hotel and paid about $ 45 for a van with six people. Taxis are located on Level 1 on both the A and B sides of the terminal.

  • Fossil Lake Buena Vista unpleasant...

the store is nothing special that other stores, have the same prices that outtles, but has a special manager who does not like to sell without identification 4 clocks, since she assumed you'd be making a bigger purchase, Like whosale. • Great value off retail prices

52 outlet shops and a food court. We found this by accident and after visiting several malls found we liked this bar far (well ok i loved the mall at millenia but well, thats another story). Converse, Gap, Nike, Old navy, Rack Room Shoes and fossil are just some of the names here, all offering some serious discounts over retail prices. Best day we...

  • 4 Disney Parks in Two Days

We didn't want to listen to the presentation of some resort vacation club and cannot spend 5 days in Disney but wanted to see all 4 parks in 2 days. What did we do?We scoured the street where Hampton Inn, Maingate west is. We thought the transaction was really dubious since the lady in one of those stores that sell Disney tickets near Hampton Inn...

  • Busy roadways

Kissimmee Tourist Traps

  • shops can be very far out for a...

kissimmee stands out a colourful road of restaurants and gift shops etc with ample signs along the road confettied with palm trees to fulfill its scenery, but that can be appreciated most if you hire a car there. If you are either a non-driver or choose not to drive there (thus having to walk everywhere) one shop/restaurant can be even be a 15...

  • Stay away from brochure attractions!

Ok, I don't think I know of any other place on Earth with more tourist traps and brochures than Kissimmee/ Central FL. Ranging from Butterfly World to Alligator Tours, brochures cover a multitude of bad exhibits. Save for a few brochures on Walt Disney World, Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure, Busch Gardens, and Sea World, about 90% of...

  • Swimming with Sealions!

We booked a sealion swim down in Key Largo, and it was excellent - worth every dollar! It is, however, a bit of a drive, approx. 4 hours there, and the same back from where we were staying, but it gave us a great opportunity to get out of the Orlando/Kissimmee area, and see the Keys, which were beautiful! The swim with the sealion, Wono, was...

The Magic Kingdom is divided into five distinct areas (lands), arranged in a spoke-like formation, all meeting at the top of Main Street USA right in front of Cinderella Castle.
