Porky's BBQ: Tasty Food
We wound up at Porky's BBQ by accident. We were out and about all day and were starving and needed a bite to eat when we came upon this place. My MIL said she had always wanted to try it out with my FIL and they never managed to get here for a meal. We decided to eat here and see what they had to offer.
When we got inside the place was jammed. The bar area was full to capacity and we got the last table in the dining room. Apparently this place is very popular with the locals; especially their unlimited salad bar. After perusing the menu offerings of assorted BBQ entrees, fish, chicken and salads. Both my MIL and I wanted the rib platter while my wife went left field and ordered fried shrimp at a BBQ place.
The service here was for crap and we waited over 50 minutes for our meals to finally arrive. The poor waitress Patty kept apologizing for the kitchen back up which was nice and she even got the manager over to apologize. We wound up with free drinks and dessert to make up for the wait which was very much appreciated. The food though was excellent. Our ribs were amazingly good and I loved the cornbread side. My wife loved her shrimp and when I tasted them I knew why. The shrimp were fresh; not frozen. Wow, amazing!
Despite the wait; the food was very good and I would come back here again.
Quinn's On the Beach: Snacking on Appetizers
Quinn's on the Beach is the beach bar/restaurant at the Marco Island Mariott. This place is a short five minute walk from where my Mother in Law's condo is located. This place is a nice, casual spot with good food and drinks.
We often found ourselves here for a drink at night and even a bite to eat one night with Liz's Aunt. The view here of the gulf is spectacular especially at sunset. The menu has some pub grub type food along with some Caribbean themed items. As fo food I can only speak about their burger which was very good and their steak sandwich which was too big to finish but very good. They make a good Strawberry Dacquiri here and my wife enjoyed their Cosmopolitans.
This is a nice casual place with a good vibe; I'd come back here anytime.
Davide's: Good Italian Food and Pizza
Davide's is a favorite spot with my Mother in Law and her friends. During our visit we ate here several times for lunch and dinner. The restaurant serves Italian dishes and pizza. It's a small place with a few outdoor tables, small bar area with seating for four and a few tables inside. Being such a small and popular place; reservations are needed for dinner.
The menu has a large selection of pizzas, sandwiches salads, pasta, meat, chicken and fish dishes. Our first meal here was for lunch. It was a beautiful sunny day so we decided to eat outside and there was a table available. Both my wife and I decided to have meatball sandwiches while my MIL had a Mozzarella Caprese Salad. My wife is very picky about her meatballs and she really loved theirs here. The food was very good and I loved their fresh warm bread.
Our next two visits were for dinner and we needed reservations; this place gets jam packed at night. I had the spaghetti and sausage one night and the second night I split a pizza with my wife; the Quattro formaggi which was excellent. Their pasta here is very good and you can tell it is fresh. Their tomato sauce is very good with a great flavor. My wife and her Mom realy enjoy their Pasta Al forno with the tasty melted cheese topping. I had to try it myself and it is very good and cheesey.
The food here is really excellent quality and the service is top notch. My MIL is like the mayor in this town and everyone seems to know her...just like back at home. We will definitely come back here again next time we vist Marco Island.
Doreen's Cup of Joe: Good Crunchy French Toast
Doreen's Cup of Joe is a local place that my MIL frequents for breakfast. This is a popular place and small; so get here early and prepare to wait for a table. We came here early one morning around 9am and had a twenty five minute wait for a table but the food is worth the wait in my opinion. We were seated at a table outside the restaurant under a heat lamp (it was a bit chilly that morning).
The breakfast menu here has the usual breakfast fare: pancakes, eggs, waffles, french toast and the like. We all decided to have their signature item; the Crunchy French Toast. I added a side of bacon to my order. My wife and MIL had cappuccino and I stuck with water. Our breakfast arrived rather quickly. It was a large portion of four slices with powdered sugar on top and strawberries. The only thing wrong with it was the imitation maple syrup instead of the real deal. The french toast itself was good; thick slices with crunchy corn flake topping.
The service here was very good and I enjoyed the French Toast. The portions here are big and we wound up with leftovers to take home.
**It's rare I get to take food pics with my MIL; she find it in bad taste and annoying so I usually refrain from doing so. This time I caught her in a good mood for it and she let me take some pics...yay!**
Capt. Brien's Seafood and Raw Bar: Freshest Seafood on Island
Spectacular display of nautical decor. My kids love the fish on the walls and fresh raw bar at the door. They enjoyed watching the oyster shucker crack open hundreds of oysters. It was like free entertainment for the family. Try the Macadamia Mahi mahi it has an incredible mango salsa ontop of it. We ate here twice and got a complimentary onion ring app from the hotel and they were to die for!! They are just like ones you would get a fair fresh beer battered.
Favorite Dish: The hand dipped onion rings had to be our favorite dish beside the Mahi and the Grouper. We truely enjoyed everything that we had on both occasions here.

snook inn: great soft shell crab
Snook Inn has been around for years. Situated in Old Marco, the Snook has an enviable position at the head of the Marco River with direct views into the Gulf of Mexico. Our initiation into eating on Marco Island was here. This is a typical South Florida restaurant with a chickee bar on the side. Shorts and deck shoes are the order of the day, whilst you tuck into soft shell crab, surf and turf, Florida shrimp, grouper, snapper, tuna etc.
Favorite Dish: Has got to be the soft shell crab with a caesar salad starter.
kretch's: great fresh fish
Kretch's down in old Marco has a terrific laid back feel to it. The seafood is as fresh as it gets.
For all you fish lovers, Kretch's is a must next time you're on Marco Island. Reservations are recommended, it gets packed
Favorite Dish: Chef's special yellow fin tuna cooked over mesquite. Jug of local beer to wash it down
Snook Inn: One of the Few Places to Eat on the Water
The food's pretty good, but most folks come here because you can sit outside (right on the water) and listen to live music.
Favorite Dish: The Grouper is good prepared any way they make it because odds are you're eating it not too long after it was caught.
Tara Steak and Lobster House: Get the Porterhouse for Two
Nice, quiet little restaurant right on the strip. Definitely call ahead for reservations.
Favorite Dish: My wife and I got the porterhouse for two. It was not only big enough but was cooked to both of our liking (which is not easy to do).

Bimini's: A great family place
While the bright yellow awning may be discouraging, the food is top noch. It is a wonderful restaurant. They have live music all the time at night which is very entertaining, but if you don't like it, you can sit on the deck where it is not audible. The menu is mainly seafood, especially the local Wahoo fish, but includes many othere choices including burgers, sandwiches, pasta etc.
Favorite Dish: Crabcake Sandwich because it is so fresh and good.

Pelican Bend: Grouper Grouper and More Grouper
Pelican Bend is a family run restaurant located in a secluded area of the Capri Islans, just North of marco Island Florida. Their specialty is preparing very fresh Grouper many different ways. They also have great southern fried chicken, and hush puppies to die for. Locals, and tourists when they can find the place, have been visiting and raging about this restaurant for years.
Fish dishes run about $15.00, chicken about $8.00. Do not miss the Key Lime pie. The place even though it is difficult to find, it;s not very big and you will find lines on weekends and holidays. Two hour wait is not uncommon in winter, but worth it.
Favorite Dish: I particularly like their sauteed Grouper. The key Lime pie, even though not baked on the premisses, is real, yes it's the real yellow key lime pie not the green stuff they sell the tourists, and should not be missed.
