  • Capt. Brien's Seafood and Raw Bar: Freshest Seafood on Island

by travelcritx Written Jan 4, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Spectacular display of nautical decor. My kids love the fish on the walls and fresh raw bar at the door. They enjoyed watching the oyster shucker crack open hundreds of oysters. It was like free entertainment for the family. Try the Macadamia Mahi mahi it has an incredible mango salsa ontop of it. We ate here twice and got a complimentary onion ring app from the hotel and they were to die for!! They are just like ones you would get a fair fresh beer battered.

Favorite Dish: The hand dipped onion rings had to be our favorite dish beside the Mahi and the Grouper. We truely enjoyed everything that we had on both occasions here.

snook inn: great soft shell crab

by domenicococozza Written Sep 3, 2007
View of Marco river from Snook Inn

Snook Inn has been around for years. Situated in Old Marco, the Snook has an enviable position at the head of the Marco River with direct views into the Gulf of Mexico. Our initiation into eating on Marco Island was here. This is a typical South Florida restaurant with a chickee bar on the side. Shorts and deck shoes are the order of the day, whilst you tuck into soft shell crab, surf and turf, Florida shrimp, grouper, snapper, tuna etc.

Favorite Dish: Has got to be the soft shell crab with a caesar salad starter.

For all you fish lovers, Kretch's is a must next time you're on Marco Island. Reservations are recommended, it gets packed

Favorite Dish: Chef's special yellow fin tuna cooked over mesquite. Jug of local beer to wash it down

Snook Inn: One of the Few Places to Eat on the Water

by BigBlueOne Written May 23, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The food's pretty good, but most folks come here because you can sit outside (right on the water) and listen to live music.

Favorite Dish: The Grouper is good prepared any way they make it because odds are you're eating it not too long after it was caught.

Tara Steak and Lobster House: Get the Porterhouse for Two

by BigBlueOne Updated Mar 25, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Nice, quiet little restaurant right on the strip. Definitely call ahead for reservations.

Favorite Dish: My wife and I got the porterhouse for two. It was not only big enough but was cooked to both of our liking (which is not easy to do).

    Bimini's: A great family place

    by peterd1331 Written Jul 27, 2006

While the bright yellow awning may be discouraging, the food is top noch. It is a wonderful restaurant. They have live music all the time at night which is very entertaining, but if you don't like it, you can sit on the deck where it is not audible. The menu is mainly seafood, especially the local Wahoo fish, but includes many othere choices including burgers, sandwiches, pasta etc.

Favorite Dish: Crabcake Sandwich because it is so fresh and good.

Pelican Bend: Grouper Grouper and More Grouper

by pulgaron Updated Jun 8, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Pelican Bend Restaurant

Pelican Bend is a family run restaurant located in a secluded area of the Capri Islans, just North of marco Island Florida. Their specialty is preparing very fresh Grouper many different ways. They also have great southern fried chicken, and hush puppies to die for. Locals, and tourists when they can find the place, have been visiting and raging about this restaurant for years.
Fish dishes run about $15.00, chicken about $8.00. Do not miss the Key Lime pie. The place even though it is difficult to find, it;s not very big and you will find lines on weekends and holidays. Two hour wait is not uncommon in winter, but worth it.

Favorite Dish: I particularly like their sauteed Grouper. The key Lime pie, even though not baked on the premisses, is real, yes it's the real yellow key lime pie not the green stuff they sell the tourists, and should not be missed.

The Sand Bar: Great little neighborhood bar and grill

by LAGator Written Jan 31, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This place was recommended by the manager of a local marina. Tried it the day we arrived and went back two more times while we were there. Great assortment of seafood dishes and desserts. Place was packed everytime we visited but we were seated within reasonable time after arriving.

Favorite Dish: The grouper sandwich was excellent. So large it overlapped the bun by about 2 to 3 inched on each side, they need bigger buns. Also, try the ceaser salad with grouper or the grouper fingers and toes(?). All really worth the trip.
