Bella's: THE best Italian Food South of Little Italy!!!

by jadedmuse Updated Mar 18, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Frank, outside newly renovated Bella's restaurant

Although I find Bella's to be a bit overpriced, I'm willing to pay it because it is the ONLY Italian restaurant in Melbourne (possibly Brevard County) worthy of a visit.

And not only that - but the food is absolutely delicious, and 100% Italian. Just ask Frank, the head chef and owner - or his wife Bella. They originally hail from New York City. For those of you who don't get it, that's AUTHENTIC.

I won't list a favorite dish here because they're all great - but I do recommend including a "Bella's Salad" (either the regular size or "baby" size) because it's full of lovely red onions, roasted red peppers, artichokes, olives and the best part - chunks of delicious, pungent Gorgonzola cheese. I'm salivating just thinking about it....

Full liquor bar and home made cannolis, too.

Islands Fish Grill: Fresh Mahi Mahi

by jadedmuse Updated Jan 4, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Islands Fish Grill on 5th Ave

The ambience is casual elegant, with reggae music playing softly in the background. The place is fairly small so it's a good idea to make reservations. The fare is fresh Caribbean seafood and fine wines. It's a favorite among locals and in my opinion, the best restaurant in the Melbourne Beach area - possibly in the entire Brevard County.

Favorite Dish: Best dish I can recommend is the house specialty: Grilled Mahi-Mahi in nut butter sauce. Comes with sauteed vegetables on the side, and sweet potato. Delicious!

The chocolate pate or creme brulee are two great desert choices.

Did I mention this is my favorite restaurant?!?

Bunky's Raw Bar and Seafood...: Steamed Shrimp, Raw or steamed Oysters, Love it

by gkitzmil Updated Aug 7, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    BUNKY'S,

Bunky's Raw Bar and Seafood Grille (formerly just Bunky's Raw Bar). Great People and good food.

Since the late 1980s and early 1990s this has been a staple in this area for oysters, shrimp, and other seafood (PLUS they had a round-the-world beer club).

On its third owner, it is doing well after a bit of a dry spell. Two servers are still there for over 20 years (go Ron and Barb), lots of locals eat here as do I when in town!

    Back and Better!

Favorite Dish: Oysters and peel and eat shrimp. Fish dip and crackers is a "crave" item for me!! Wings are Delicious!

    The Cove

Another very popular seafood location. While they are a family place and get many families their entertainment (lounge act) is geared to the senior crowd.

Favorite Dish: I enjoyed the peel and eat shrimp Nice service.

    Skewers: Tasty Chicken Kabobs

    Outside patio area

Believe it or not, Melbourne has a few Middle Eastern restaurants. This one is probably the nicest appointed one, and happens to be right by the beach in Indialantic.

If you're lucky, sometimes there's a belly-dancer or two for entertainment.

If you want to smoke the narghila pipe, you'll have to be tenacious in insisting they bring it out to you. If you ask, they're most likely going to tell you "no" at first. Persevere...it always works.

Favorite Dish: Since I'm a vegetarian, I usually get the "greek" salad and some tahini and hummus. But I know the chicken dishes are great - plenty of garlic!

    Continental Flambe: Very "Continental"....

by jadedmuse Written Jan 4, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Outside of Continental Flambe

Whether for lunch or dinner, the Continental Flambe is another favorite dining spot of mine here in Melbourne.

The owner/chef is from Morocco and is married to a French woman. Between the two of them, they've come up with a creative, eclectic menu and wine bar that is not only visually appealing, but culinarily satisfying (did I just make up that word "culinarily"?)

Menu changes from time to time, but expect anything from roast duck to curried chicken.

    Bella's in the afternoon

Bella's closed due to the recession.

From the Melbourne Marina, we went to Bella's for dinner had lasagna for $8 each. That was one of the least expensive things. They also have a bakery and a deli. We bought some bread and cookies that are a pale imitation of Bergers with the chocolate fudge tops. I took half my lasagna back to the boat.

    The Cove: Shrimps were ok

by manuelEB Updated Feb 11, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If I do recall well, this place was called Guilligan's Island or Guilligan's Cove or Guiligan's Whatever. The whole Satellite Beach Zone seems to be a TV Show, judging fomr the "I dream of Jeannie" in Cocoa Beach and "The Twilight Zone" in my secret place.
Thing is.. that I have been trying to come to this place for years and guess what... I made it to on January 19,2005. Glass of California Chardonnay, Tuna "sashimi"(hehe!) as appetizer and a delicious dish called "Shrimps a la Mediterranean" (???). It was great!
I do recommend it. But, hey, There are not shrimps in the Mediterranean (an italian collegue said!!!).
The nice thing with this restaurant is that is always full with locals , which garantee that sea food is fresh. At least in my theoretical model.

Favorite Dish: Shrimps a la Mediterranean (???)

Guiseppis Italian Deli & Restaurant: Lunch

by grandmaR Updated Aug 10, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The marina has a restaurant and we got a discount there, but it was too expensive for us.

So we walked up into town, and there is a deli that is open for lunch that is reasonable. This region of town around the courthouse has a lot of places open during the day, and not so many at night.

I don't remember what the name of the deli was, but there are two possibilities

One is Petty's and one is Guiseppis

Favorite Dish: I think it is more likely that it was Guiseppis, but here is the information on Petty's.

    Petty's Meat Market 1.18
