Favorite thing: For an idea of a day trip from Miami, see my Flamingo page. Nice place to get away from it all for a day. In the heart of the Everglades National Park. An easy 38 miles from the park's entrance. The park is southwest of Florida City on State Road 9336. When you get to SW 344 Street at SW 197th Avenue, you must make a left to continue on 9336. At that very intersection you will find a fruit stand called Robert is Here. Do stop, to experience the best tropical, and exotic fruit shakes in South Florida. Try the Mamey shake, my favorite. The Guanabana is also excellent.
Fondest memory: Here's a fellow co-worker, Mary Avalos, holding a baby aligator. One night we had a Florida-version of a petting zoo. Aligators, parakets, jaguars, boa constrictors and various other animals native to Florida were brought in for us to hold.
I went to an alligator farm near Miami, just southwest of the city.
Fondest memory: I was holding a baby alligator. It was rough!
